I believe this is just a new armor type - it's not going to replace any of the current ones and it works very differently.
My guess as to how it works is that it acts like a light shield (+25 HP) and the number at the bottom is like a "tank". When you take shield damage, it takes health from the tank and refills the shield. So yes, you technically have 175 health, but not exactly. Vandals and Operators can still one-shot since you do only have 125 health (100 + shield), the only difference is that the shield will start to regen after a while

I think its going to be a new option in the buy menu because they said "New armour type" and not "new armour sytem" or something like that

It can be a ui update too for over healing abilities because earlier for clove and reyna over heal numbers were just floating around and now they have a proper design for it

Im not sure if i like the shield changes very much, but like you said it could be like a shield bank type thing, but it just feels out of place entirely changing the meta like this, because that means vandals would no longer one shot, so pretty meta changing.

1:28 phx was not being healed by the wall as you can see in the top left and right corners of the screen there are some blue things indicating that a sage was healing him, not a wall and also you can see the timer for healing going down but when you exited a phx wall it stops healing immediately

This is the same as Strinova has done. (Its similar to valorant but with a totally unique playstyle) You can either chose 150 shield or 75 shield that has 225 points of possible recharge if it is damaged. Really fun game, and full release is coming out in a month or so, highly recommend to check it out.

First thing coming to mind is the marshal dmg. Usually a bodyshot with the Marshal will break someone’s shield completely, whether is light or heavy. Meaning even if someone heals them, they will get killed by a second bodyshot (101 damage). (Reynas and Clove’s Overheal are the exception) But now imagine getting hit by a marshal with the new shield. Your health drops to 24, sage heals you back to 100hp AND you get 25 Shields back, putting you back at 125 health total. Meaning, you can tank another bodyshot.

So this sorta nerfs the Marshal eco buys but buffs the outlaw so idk

As much as I love variant i don't enjoy playing it anymore, idk why, maybe I got bored, or maybe it got too complicated for me but I just can't get myself to hop on the comp game and play for hours like I used to

The Valorant community has been complaining about the fact that you, for example, can't upgrade from light shield to heavy shield in the next round if you didn't take any damage at all or too little to justify re-buying heavy shield.
The regen-shield could propose a solution to this problem and would be of the rare occurances of Riot Games actually listening to its community xD

This will be the biggest bullshit in this game. No u will not be able to 1 shot with operator or headshot with vandal. Riot is getting this game more and more to hell like league of legends.

so it basically +25hp (125hp) but with 50 reserve hp that regens the 25hp limit shield. I still think the heavy shield with +50hp (150hp) is the stronger shield in most scenarios but I guess in some situations the regen shield would be the better option. I wonder what it will cost though

i hope they give up this shield idea, just leave it as it already is, the community wants so many different things and riot wants to add a dumb useless shield like what are they aiming for

its a new shield. usable in the eco rounds where every single hp unit counts . it should be more expensive than light but cheaper than heavy so around 600 to 800. those spectre and shotgun rounds where u dont get headshot but lose around 70 to 80 health . this will give back 25 effective health twice . the shield u run when u dont have enough for heavy. basically they might want more diverse playstyles

I believe its just gonna be a new armor type: only 25 shield is usable at a time, but the ''shield tank'' can store more, the shields inside the ''shield tank'' will slowly regenerate or duplicate

honestly it seems more like something you can buy as an add-on to shields you’ve already bought. for example, you buy lights and you can choose to add on a ‘regen pool’ that has the value of 25 or 50.

that is to say, it would be like having the option to upgrade your shields for additional credits after having bought the base shield (probably in the same round). that or it’s only available as a 25 shield with a 50 regen pool and it acts as a third shield type.

I think it’s likely that the shield won’t protect against damage over the initial value of 125 (so headshots and the like with proper guns will still kill with one shot). I think they’re adding this shield type to help combat how popular reyna is.

this is all just my speculation though. let me know if you have any thoughts!

It's def gonna widen the skill gap/ceiling. Allowing shield regen makes clutches way more viable and Smurfs are gonna have a hay day XD

Def just a 3rd shield slot, only available for light, it’s like a gamble, you take gunfight and miraculously survive, after a delay your shields will regenerate thus making you no longer dying to a singular bullet. Makes it so kills take slightly more skill to kill players instead of mag dumping and hoping one bullet hits the 12 health chamber player. This could very well buff sage inyo meta. Having regen shield and then sage heals you to full health? Yeah major buff to sage and skye.
