CQT Online Talks – Series: Quantum computation and simulation

Speaker: Christian Kokail, Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information
Abstract: The experimental quantification of entanglement properties, and the entanglement spectrum in particular, play a major role in our understanding modern quantum many body physics in the lab. In this talk I will discuss a measurement scheme of the entanglement spectrum, based on an efficient parametrization of the reduced density matrix in terms of entanglement Hamiltonian. For ground states, such a parametrization is suggested by the Bisognano-Wichmann theorem of axiomatic field theory, while for quench-dynamics an ansatz is provided by conformal field theory. I will discuss numerical investigations of entanglement Hamiltonian tomography for spin models in 1D. Finally, I will present an experimental measurement of the time evolution of the entanglement spectrum on an ion-trap quantum simulator.
