This is the best and honest interpretation of the current political scene i have seen in recent times in the country of my birth where the situation in the Parliament i am watching daily is seriously concerning. I believe in equality for all citizens regardless of culture, not separatism, not apartheid, apartheid doesn't work, look at SA and Zimbabwe for example. We want a prosperous and progressive nation not a failed state from population conflict. We need a nation where everyone works for the betterment of our country, not a nation heading for failure. I'm watching this video and thinking you are so voted for ACT and David Seymour for changes in GVT spending also to tidy up the Treaty meaning and use of the Treaty of Waitangi. It is time to address this also while we have Winston and NZF to assist. It is our time in history to do this. Think how strong and economically viable we would be as a country if the division was removed.

If Māori are 20% of the population 1M people. 3%(TPMAO) of 5M people is 150000, that's at least 800, 000 of Māori that don't support them. So please remember that when you see all this trouble, it is a small noisy group and most Māori just want to live in NZ in harmony. but Act 8% 400, 000 and NZF 6% 300, 000 people that voted for a strong change and I'd say a lot that wanted a strong change also voted for National

Hi JB I was chatting to a Maori on Friday about the treated and as usual he tried to jump all over the place. He mentioned that king George declared in 1835 that Maori were a sovereign nation of course he said it wasn't documented or mentioned in the treaty. Have you heard anything about this?

Maori seats were established originally as the requirement to vote was tied to land ownership. Maori at the time owned land in common, so it was fair to have them eligible to vote. Maori men in NZ achieved universal franchise prior to everyone else, and creating the electorates was a way of balancing representation. The rationale for the existence of the Maori seats really disappeared well before when we brought in MMP.
