20+2 teamed power stages, 110A SPS and 10K rated capacitors ( upgraded compared to both EXTREMEs Z690 or X570 )

The double sided tape is for the included aRGB/fan hub

The new DIMM.2 is GEN-Z.2 and was updated for PCIe Gen 5 and Gen 4 support. It can run both at the same time and required a new interface. The heatsink was specifically designed to accommodate the increased thermals for next gen PCIe Gen 5 drives.

While the layout is similar keep in mind that X670E is two chipsets and affords more PCIe Gen 5 so this is very different than X570 or Z690.

You can support 3 PCIe Gen 5 M.2 SSDs

Rear IO Quad USB-C with USB 4 support is new ( you have all spec standard 40Gbps, 20Gbps and 10Gbps )

Audio is also different compared to both other EXTREMES ( new ESS SABRE codec )

The 2SPC/2DPC is the same as Z690 with max expectation being approx 5200/5600 and dependent on quality of the IMC. 1SPC/1DPC is similar but less.

The support page with the new UEFI either 611 or 614 is live.

Keep in mind DRAM overclocking VOIDs your warranty ( AMD guidelines )

Also there is no 4 DIMM EXPO or XMP kits on the market so if pursuing these configurations they may require manual tuning. We do work to implement auto rules to smooth other this configuration.

I got this board and have been testing it on a test bench for a few weeks with 128gb memory, 7950x and a 4090...using two 4tb gen 4 drives until gen 5 releases...the board is an absolute beast.

Great review, thank you. Just a small correction. $1600 AUD is $1034 USD at today's exchange rate. Australian advertised prices include the taxes (GST). You would be better of buying it there.

I've been waiting for this to drop in price a bit before purchase. It's my top pick for when I finally upgrade to AM5. I think that as soon as the new 3Dv Cache chips are available ill be getting this board ASAP.

FYI, while I get that you don't care about some of the things in the box, and that's fine, if you are doing a unboxing and review video then it will help your video a lot if you actually systematically go through everything. Inventory the whole box. I was looking for a review on this board and you were the only one I could find on here. But I come away from this video lacking much of the information I was hoping to find in an unboxing review video.

Other ways to improve your video, if you are reviewing something that is mostly black, a medium grey background will do a lot to not wash out a lot of the details of what you are trying to show. Removing the protective plastic (the peel) will show what it actually looks like.

Having your script, or at least an outline, of what you want to cover in the video will help your flow quite a bit. Having to pull away from the recording to check something interrupts the flow of the video.

I just bought one of these off of NewEgg so I'll likely have the same boot issue as you. How did you update the BIOS without the system posting? Thankfully the ASUS support website is now synced, so I can download the new Beta BIOS.

Z790 changes is also m.2 but I agree for sure! Also we have updates graphs for the 4090 of 60% native performance gains. And of course much bugger dlss gains but I do think dlss will change gaming in general. I think once tested it will be very accepted because of the massive gains you can get. If it works and it actually gives the same feel then I'm all for it. I mean getting more then 40% native gains in a generation is Def hard to do especially after having such monsters previously. But I'm hoping to truely see 60% gains. I mean shit even the 35-60 fps gains that is 45% on cyberpunk from the test without dlss.

I’m interested buying a ASUS motherboard. My current build is a MSI Z490 Godlike. What ASUS you recommend comparing to the Z490. FYI I bought the Godlike when it 1st came out.

Having a couple problems with this board. The top PCIe slot is 16x. I run a 4090 FE, I bought a EKWB water block for, after installing that it no longer fits in the top PCIe slot. Have to move the gpu to the bottom where your card now only runs at 8x.

Not sure if these problems I'm having is mobo related or not but every time I optimize my 7950x with ryzen master I start getting RAM crashes. Have to remove all sticks and only run 1 till i can post, I uninstall ryzen master, reboot into bios change back to stock settings, then I can add my other 3 sticks of RAM back in and boot up. That's running Gskill Trident Z amd optimized 6000hz.

Other than that the board is nice. But at this price should of been able to make both PCIe slots 16x if you're not using top. Yes I have the latest bios updates and drivers on everything.

This board only advertises usb4, but it uses a thunderbolt 4 controller. Are you able to test somehow if the thunderbolt 4 support works or is enabled?
