Did Chirag answer everything you wanted to know?
NOTE: he is with Samsung DISPLAY not samsung electronics which is the company that decided to put on the matte screen - samsung display shows off their QD-OLED panels in a semi-gloss or glossy panel but when Sony or Samsung buys the panel, they then add their own anti-reflective film and in this case Samsung Electronics added the matte AR film

Appreciate all your efforts and coverage this year. Great insight and details outside of the normal press releases or conventional YouTube videos. Thanks for being such a positive influence in this wee little TV community.

The new antiglare coating is a misjudged move for me. It scatters the light on a large area of the screen, elevating the blacks, killing the contrast and the lifelike impression of the A95c.

FOMO I was hoping you would ask him about the Matte finish. For the S95D, will we have a choice between the Matte finish (bad idea) and a Glossy finish ? We’re already getting word that the matte finish does affect the contrast. How about dimming with SDR & Gaming ? Anything improved for 2024 ?

Goodness me, these qd oled are HARD TO BEAT. Especially if they're going to have 2000 nit highlights and maybe like 285 full field after calibrated to a sane white point.

It's good that they're making more strides of making better brightness and better picture quality but what we need from these tvs is better durability they need to be pushing for better life span for these displays because paying over 3 grand for these tvs for it to break in 3 years is not cool

I have a couple of questions, Is the improved brightness more of a software upgrade than actual hardware ? If so does that mean 2gen panels could reach those brightness numbers with a software update ? & Just picked up a second gen 77’’ qdoled panel, is it worth the upgrade ?

It's like the start of every year, "omfg 3k Nits!!!!111" then the actual real S95D once launched won't surpass like 1, 6k Nits, 200 brighter than last year's model. Good to have guys like Classy...and hate to say it even QuantumTV who are both not buying into the obvious marketing fluff.

Thanks, great video - probabaly the most informative of all CES. I am still no clear about a) is the S95D having a new processor or it's the same as the S95C? b) is there any improvement on upscalling performance?

Just bought the s89c. should I return it and wait for the s90d upgrades?

I'm currently looking at a Samsung and Sony. I've got a 12 year old plasma Samsung that's been trouble free and although Sony has the best processors in the market I'm just at a loss as to which brand I should choose. Due to my age it's probably the last TV I'll ever have to purchase unless I live to be 100 which is highly unlikely.

Good that you tackled the samsung gent on sonys brightness plans.

When is Brian buying the 115 inch tv? More seriously since the frame is selling well for Samsung, it makes sense that they try it on the flagship, with the extra brightness, maybe the contrast will be ok.

Why not just have a tiny refrigerant condenser with active cooling? They are near silent. You could foam around it. Or use a active noise canceling speakers that come on just to specifically cancel out the condensers sound

'm going to get 31.5" QD OLED this year, but haven't decided on which brand yet. For that, I hope FOMO will do a comparison review of different manufactures! Actually, I already know it won't be Samsung branded one because Samsung one will be matt. That's just so dumb. They don't listen to their customers. If they ask competition gamers, they will say matt - but they don't really care black or white. For them it's all about winning and even a small reflection can ruin their game. But, the real consumers who actually pay for it - it's clear the consumers want it glossy.

Samsung should have given us a 83” QD OLED instead of this anti glare coating
