Philippe Guibourge designed for Chanel after Coco died. He created the ready to wear line for Chanel. You mentioned there was only 3 designers for Chanel. I just wanted to add that in.

I can’t say I’m a fan of Blazy’s work at BV. I do hope he will bring something new and fresh into Chanel. I do love Chanel the way it is now. There’s just something beautiful about being classic. I do however wouldn’t mind see something new being added to the Chanel that we all know now. It’s going to be interesting.

i'm excited to see what he does at chanel. but a bit sad for Bottega, he did great over there! that oversized pouch went crazy popular and recently that andiamo. i hope bottega keeps going up, I would hate to see it flop now that it's popular. as well as their quality, their leather is so good, let's hope that doesn't go down.

I dont think quality will get better. Chanel is a company too big, Blazy will only have control over the creative side of Chanel's fashion but not its manufacturing. I dont think even Lagerfeld and Viard had any control over materials sourcing and manufacture.

I have been a long time fan and client of Chanel. I loved Virginie over Karl, still a huge fan of both! That said... I don't know much about Matthieu except that I wouldn't buy anything from current Bottega collections (women's), nothing there makes my heart nor wallet sing. That said, I could use a lil break from spending at Chanel so am already looking forward to that 🙂

The ppl he worked under is more minimalist so will be interesting to see how it goes . RAF Simmons, Phoebe Philo, Daniel Lee etc. I agree that improving the quality is key and I also hope they can improve the cuts and styles as the styles have felt too repetitive (basically just copying stuff from archives and putting cheaper materials on them to skip corners !). For what they charge they really need to do an overhaul on the quality regardless of who the designer is !! I don’t want quality that is becoming more like Zara at extortionate pricing ! Even the bags most of them feel like plastic with crooked seams and weak chains ⛓️‍💥!!

I think Chanel have chosen him as he can help rebuild the reputation of Chanel (as he’s from a brand known for its quality, and Chanel has lost its reputation for quality)

Its going to be interesting. I dont know much about the quality of bottega bags. Dont hear much about it. The ones I have tho are lovely. Smell nice and Ive not had any quality issues. Some of them cone with a life long gaurantee. Thats luxury in my eyes. Fingers crossed things will improve at chanel
