I’m a icu nurse have been for 2 decades, what is not being said there is not enough icu nurses, you can’t just put any nurse in that position. Plus there are not enough vents for every one or respiratory therapist. The public needs to know this.hospitals have cut icu nurses and respiratory therapists

I am not a New Yorker, and I have not heard Governor Cuomo give a talk before. I don't know if people think he is a good governor or not. But I have to say that listening to him give this talk is the polar opposite of listening to trump give a talk. It is good to hear an intelligent man, Cuomo not trump, give an intelligent talk using full sentences that make sense.

It doesn't "Make all the sense in the world" like he says, it is not a matter of beds and rooms, or buildings. It is a problem of not having enough trained health care personnel: nurses, respiratory therapists, etc and they are the ones that will get overwhelmed, not the hospital buildings, like he is saying, they would be the ones working double shifts. He is not focusing on the basic problem: The availability of trained health care personnel to use the equipment and to have the proper PPE. Where are the Hospital administrators, why are they not addressing the real issue, instead of politicians?? Where are the Boards of Registered Nursing?

Why not use all of those psychiatric hospitals that New York closed.

You can make all the extra beds and ventilators you want, but you also need more highly trained ICU personnel, and they take time to train.

Let's be clear, there are not enough ICUs, ventilators or medical staff to deal with what is coming.

We didnt have enough nurses BEFORE coronavirus. Who’s going to take care of all these sick people?

Private 'health care' is a BUSINESS, not health care, listening to this bureaucrat is depressing. Clueless liars.

This is the kind of guy who could manage a nation with total confidence based in realism.

You can buy older refurbished ventilators that are just as good as the new microprocessor vents or jet vents or pressure vents. There everywhere for under 3K. So many ventilators are sitting in storage areas in hospitals across the country needing repairs. Ventilators are everywhere, you just gotta know where to look.

Currently closed schools facilities could be set up as pop-up testing/treatment complexes. Could be exclusively for coronavirus illness/patients. Some school layouts would be better than others. Drive thru testing on surrounding parking lots.

New Yorkers were out in record partying in the City on Friday.. The community needs to be responsible and ACCOUNTABLE.. This is for real and needs to taken SERIOUSLY... The government can only do so much..

Use the closed schools as temp hospitals.

There is no need for cruise ships. Why not hire one or two and dock them on the Hudson next to the Intrepid? Use them as hospitals.

Authorize the Navy Seabees as well... if the national contractors cannot expand to meet our needs...

BS. NY government has tons of money. Just cut bloated government pensions and use that money for a few beds and feeding the unemployed. e.g. use empty government buildings and dormitories.
