What if President Abraham Lincoln, the man who had led the Union through the American Civil War, had actually survived his assassination at the hands of John Wilkes Booth, and went on to lead the nation through Reconstruction? Would Lincoln treat the South more severely than Johnson and General Grant? Or would Lincoln be the greatest friend the South had in the North? What would become of emancipation? How would freed slaves be treated under the continued Lincoln administration? This is the alternate history of what if Lincoln had lived.

I've always found it ironic and tragically hilarious that Booth killed the one man who would have been willing, and able, to actually help the South instead of just mounting on radical punishments.

What if Theodore Roosevelt had accepted his nomination as the candidate of the Progressive Party in 1916 instead of insisting Charles Evans Hughes be the candidate, which in our timeline caused the party to dissolve, thus securing the existence of a legitimate third party in American politics?

What if the USSR fell into civil war after trying to use military force to prevent its republics from seceding?

Even pro-confederates should admit Lincoln was the South’s best bet. In his death, the South suffered. Some states will NEVER fully, completely, recover.

What if we went with Hamilton's Congressional plan and made Washington a King bound by the Constitution?

4:27 The details are actually hilarious. Johnson was apparently heavily drunk while on campaign, and when he was heckled while giving an election speech, he responded by shouting insults and threats at the crowds, who responded in kind. This behaviour by the president disgusted U.S. Grant so much that he refused to support the president any longer (and would soon replace him).

What if Julius Caesar survived the attack on his life?
Perhaps he decided to play it safe on the Ides of March and wear some armor under his toga. The conspirators only had a few moments to surprise and adequately wound caesar, or he would realize the treachery and call for Antony, who was nearby. Caesar himself would also be a threat once he recognized the danger, as he was a trained fighter who could easily take a knife from one of his weaker opponents

I truly appreciate you teaching historic facts that are seldom taught today. This is the exact things I learned in high school in Southern History.

Wouldn't Lincolnia be called Sequoyah? Sequoyah was the original name for a state with those borders in eastern Oklahoma.
