I am not an expert in Snooker or Cues, but I just love to watch the game. I have often wondered if ever, it was possible to use a ferrule with a tip, that could be just screwed on and off to the cue, so that in times of a crucial match event, if ever the tip gets damaged, one could just replace the tip with the ferrule in no time. Just expressing a possibility, as I said I am no expert to judge what the result would be on the cue and striking and its working feasibility. Also not sure why players of the caliber of Neil and Ronnie wouldn't have extra cues with them in a crucial match. Agreed there might also be a possibility to have a cue of sentimental value to play, but having spares could be better. Depending only on one, and causing to lose because of that, is a pity. Saying this because I have seen other sports players carry multiple gear with them, like tennis rackets, or crickets bats and so forth. Can screwable ferrules be a workaround? I have heard that top professional snooker players should have an identical snooker cue available for just these circumstances of when there tip breaks, and it's not as if they can not afford a spare cue.
