OMP Hobby - S720 Sport - Setup & Bind to DSMX DX18 Radio & Flight

I've been wanting to bind this to my DX18 as soon as I realized I could run it with my Jumper TS8G with SBus. In this video, I'll share the whole process and you can copy what I did if you'd like.

If I didn't make it clear in the video, you can also do this on the T720 Trainer, although it's harder to get the plug inserted.

Not suggesting anyone buy that Spektrum SPM 4650 receiver just to experiment, but has anyone who already bought one and could not make it work tried to solder the regular, smaller cable with the proper 3 wire connector to the board, skipping the second, terminal marked "NC" ? Just using the Signal, Positive, and Negative wires. I almost clicked on "Buy" to get one, but then noticed the later comments noting the problem.

I had just purchased both the OMP S 72 Sport and the OMP M2 Exp helicopter and had no problem installing and binding either the regular Spektrum or Lemon satellites in both aircraft. The 6450 looked worthwhile because it appears to be physically smaller, which would be a plus, particularly for the little hellicopter.

Can you please advise on how to replace the motor? My plane got crashed and there is some weird sound now coming from the motor. I am unable to access the motor to replace it .

Hey Brian does that bind up with Spectrum 8 I did get one I did not get the nX but i got the Virgin before that. But will that just bind right up and 2nd question if I can bind it to my spectrum is there a way to reverse the way the motor goes without switching the wires because my motors got wired reverse and I can't get in there to switch it so I bought the plane to learn with and I've never been able to fly it. And that's when of them that I thought I would be able to fly with and learn and have fun but every time I get a plane that is supposed to be easy something is wrong

Hey Brian. Awesome video. I got my DX6e working with the plane. A question for you. I'm flying at about 30% throttle in safe mode and all is good. Trying to learn how to fly "for real", so I take it out of safe mode and the nose goes up immediately. I've tried to trim elevator down and nothing. I then add more throttle and it just shoots upward. I have to use down elevator to get it level. What can be causing this? What am I doing wrong?

Hello,
The maker of the video included a link to a product that is not compatible. The SPM4650 uses a different protocol for communication between it and a flight controller than the receiver used in the video. This airplane appears to use the standard serial DSMX setup rather than SRXL2 (spm4650). Our recommendation is to use a standard remote receiver such as the SPM9745 which connects with a three pin cable.

The receiver in the Amazon link will not work with the S720. It has 4 pins the S720 receiver has 3 pins. I did not find this out until after I had soldered the board. Still have not found out which receivers will work. Sent an email to OMP and they just said to "Google" it.

Hello sir the DX18 is a good transmitter? A friend is selling it for about usd400 used item. Do u think it is worth the price?anyway does dx18 has the voice guide when we use the flap, time warning etc?
