Love the stuff!!! I usually salt it for a couple of days, boil it with an onion, some garlic, peppercorns and a bayleaf. Make a rich onion gravy and enjoy the thickly sliced tongue with some buttery mash and some garden peas. (Never any left to freeze!!! ;) )

I was just talking to a buddy of mine in western Kentucky. He got some beef heads and was processing the tongues. It made me remember the great old German delicatessens we had here in lower, Upstate new York, when I was a kid. I loved tongue on sandwiches. Tongue. Muenster, onions, stone ground mustard, some horseradish, on a sub roll. I haven't had one in years, and now I'm fiending for it. This recipe looks great. I'll have to try it this way, too.
Thank you, Ma'am.

Brought back great memories when I spent the weekend with my grandmother. Sandwiches to die for. I was 8 or 9. Miss her lots.

Great info. I tried cooking one a long time ago but had no instruction and just gave up. It was ruined. But, now I have a new direction. Thank you.

My mom would boil this in water w celery carrots and onion then peel it then slice it thin and make sandwiches on fresh crusty Italian bread with stone ground mustard. Came to love it. Ive never seen anyone make it since - 40 yrs now. Its very good. Great winter food.

Eating beef tongue always grossed me out. But one day i ate it by not knowing what it was and i can tell you, it's a very good cut and taste amazing when prepared well. I had it roasted by the way. :)

We used to eat this and ox tail as kids as they used to be cheap. It was two times we had that I can remember being a real treat. We never had meat in our lunch usually just peanut butter(not allowed these days cause all must suffer for a few) cause it was all we could afford. But when we had tongue we had meat sandwiches and it was good 😊!

It si delicious, but relatively expensive. I remember my father making it back in Poland and my Late (Step) Daughter in New Jersey, at my request. Tatiyanna was a great cook, chef.

In Goa ( INDIA), WE do the roast toungue with spices ( peppercorn, cinnamon& cloves) along with sauted onions, gingergarlic paste and red chillies. Trust me, it taste so delicious. Often served for family function.
I thinks its universal dish.

Thanks for the video, I liked it because you show from start to finish on how to prep, cook, and peel it. I have only had it when I would go to a Korean/Japanese restaurant, we order it, and then we cook it at the table. It's normally sliced paper thin and when grilled becomes crispy on the edges. Dipped in a mix of salt, pepper, and oil, it is fantastic along with the vegetables served as side dishes. I will definitely try your method and it opens up more options on what to do with it, used as an addition to beef stew near the end of the cooking period comes to mind as it will already be cooked and tender, ready to eat. Thanks again for the great video!!

Beef tongue when cooked slowly as in this recipe is as good as most cuts of steak and is very moist and makes a great meal with potato and veggies or in sandwiches. Great cut of meat that the squeamish miss out on..We love it in my family!!!

I prepare the tongue the same way, some of it I use for sandwiches. the other half I cook the tongue slices in a pan with can of diced tomatoes with a clove of garlic along with green olives. Really tastes good when one adds some of the juice of the olive jar. Cook untill the tomatoes are well done with low heat. Moms recipe.

I wanted some cooking and prepping tips since I'll be doing tongue for the first time today in my pressure cooker.  I love the stuff but won't tell my kids what it is other than it's tongue licking good.

Well, I'm a deer butcher by trade, I process beef when a farmer has an injured one, if they don't want the tongue or meat from the head, I usually just throw it away. Today I wasn't too wore out after skinning and quartering an 800-pound heifer by myself, so I decided to take the tongue. I'm hoping this is a good recipe, it may make me regret throwing away all those other tongues though. :)
