Casts have long been overdue for an upgrade since their creation in the 1850s. Now Chicago-based startup Cast21 has created a futuristic-looking sleeve that’s as strong as a fiberglass cast, but with less hassle.

I had to wear a cast for 4 mo! I’m so claustrophobic that I made them cut it down the sides, but thankfully they did, because I had open wounds under the cast (on my leg) that needed medical care. It would be nice to have a cast like this with hinges that could open up & come off if needed. I wouldn’t have a problem wearing one just knowing I could get it off!

This reminds me of the hi-tech wrist cast in “Starship Troopers” worn by recruit Breckinridge, after Sgt. Zim “snapped his arm” during an unnecessarily brutal sparring session. 😆

I can't believe this hasn't been thought of before! For the legs, it's going to have to be reinforced though?

Is it made at set sizes or can you cut it and reseal before filling with the resin?

Didn’t work for me at all! Hours after being home it had to be cut off at the ER. My hand swelled so bad it cut circulation off. I was so disappointed.

I don't care what you think and I don't care if it's 4 years ago. Arm cast are meant to keep your fingers from moving because with this garbage waste of plastic, the more you use your fingers, the longer the healing process will become. Arm casts aren't meant to be used for excresice or work, I hope you know that by now.

There's a reason why old arm casts are still used to this day and it's better than this scam of a "cast". Sadly, people are now willingly buy this without thinking twice, but it is what it is. Don't blame me if your arm hasn't recovered in 6 weeks, I know some of you brought this for nothing.
