Welcome to Daxu outside of Guilin, a city that was once a prosperous trade hub, now it's a relic of the past. Many people still live there and live the old CHinese life.

We also take a walk around Guilin and experience it's AMAZING hotels and food streetrs.

We are Pat & Giulia, a couple from 🇬🇧 and 🇮🇹 living in London.

We decided to go travelling and ended up living getting stuck in Malaysia during 2020 which spurred the creation of this channel, we're now back on the road after a lengthy hiatus!

We dislike the name VeggiesOnTour, but it got stuck with us during Covid in 2020 and we've not been able to shake it since. We are quite well known in Malaysia for it, so it's stuck.

😘🤩JULIA looks beautiful in Miao costume! The most famous scenery in Guilin is Guilin rice noodles, so you must go shopping and eat different types of noodles in Guilin. There are many types of rice noodles that can be paired with it. You can explain to the restaurant owner that you require vegetarian food without meat. If you know how to ride a bicycle, you can rent an electric bicycle in Guilin Yangshuo to go outdoors and see many beautiful scenery.

This is one of those authentic 'antient villages' that have only been recently developed into tourist attractions. They still keep most of the old buildings and most shops are run the the residents that offer much much more local selections of foods and merchandise. They are more lay back than the shopkeepers from those modern 'ancient villages' too. Quite interesting to visit.

those old abandon alley house.. looks so intriguing.. knowing the Chinese.. I would have thought they would have restored it and turn it into a homestay.. there's plenty of dilapidated building in Penang Malaysia just like that.. which is left to rot.. so sad..

That's a run down back alley with less toursty. You can see some old houses start to collapse and have been abandoned. The main street in yangshuo is heavily commercialized. Most streetfront houses are renovated with local architecture style. Guilin is well known for its karst landscape and hush green vegetation. The tourist industry is critical local economy in Guilin.

I think the ancient town you visited is not too commercial, that's why your friend recommend you to be there. China has lots of ancient towns. the most famous ancient town is in Lijiang (Yunnan province) and Phoenix(Hunan province). but they are too tourism, some people do like but some people don't like. for the ancient town in your video, I believe when you re-visit 2~3 years later, it will be total different. it seems the ancient town will be retrofitted very soon cause I saw the paper on the door for some buildings in Chinese "don't close, it's dangerous".
20:38, the two pagodas at night are very beautiful, you can take a boat on the river, there is a light show along the river, you even can reach the elephant hill through boat.

Guys we have the largest AirShow in Asia coming Nov. 12th to 17th. All in our home city of Zhuhai. It happens every two years. One of the biggest airshows in the world. Interested?

nice you got to see an unrenovated 'ancient' town in china even though that one wasn't as old as some others being 'just' 400 or so years old lol. nothing fancy but gives you some perspective of what a bustling town was like even just a couple hundred years ago before everyone migrated to megacities in recent decades.
