You have to pause for a second before you say "xbox" for the sample fact that it wouldn't accidentally pick up voice commands in a average conversation. This who video they were talking over each other. Notice when it did work for john it was because there was a brief pause before he said "Xbox". I know this because I have one and I was going through similar problems. But now I know to pause a second before giving the Xbox a command and now it works almost flawlessly.

Always Calibrate the Kinect every time you move the kinect or something around your room. It needs to know where the sound bounces off of from your TV to differentiate your voices from the sound waves of the TV.

I think the Xbox One needs a class of avoiding discrimination in certain individuals! A friend of mine has it, and it never picks up, but my voice picks it like amazing.

My brother was playing the xbox one and I was watching this video. When they said "Xbox, Bing" it switched my brother to the Bing.

Lol this is the exact same situation with Dragon Naturally Speaking. Me and my dad could speak and it would recognise our voice but it wouldn't recognise my sisters voice for some reason. This video surprisingly brought back some memories. Thanks for the upload guys!

It works 99% of the time for me. I'm not a fanboy either I'm just stating my experience, I've had a wonderful time playing with my xb one so far

I think Will Dawson brings up a good point, and this was sort of mentioned in the Verge review. Ashley is rolling a lot of her sentences together. There isn't enough of a pause between the casual conversation and the Xbox commands. Which is why it works so much better at her house on the 360. It also explains why it worked better for John after Ashley went first, and why "stop listening" works so well for her. David Pierce from the Verge said that the Kinect really didn't do well in a noisy room. And with the conversation Ashley and John were having around the Xbox it makes sense that it wasn't responding.

I can't believe this chick doesn't know why its not working. Quit rolling into voice commands from other sentences. Kinect 1 worked great for me (when you set it up correctly) I just wanted more voice control in every menu and app. Especially on DVD playback. Maybe over the years of being a nerd using shitty voice control on other platforms like how it was on vista just trained me to annunciate my commands better. To be honest, other than when my dog is barking or someone is talking (loud) kinect 1 and Google open mic for that matter work flawlessly and I've never had kinect use the wrong command like so many people claim. I will be supper happy to use kinect 2.0 as a universal remote. Only thing I'm bummed about is having to buy 2.0 for windows this time around if I want to hook it up to PC. I had a lot of fun with the SDK for kinect for xbox

If it is signed into Johns account it would mostly listen to him and not Ashley because the thing doesnt want for you to be disrupted by others trying to mess with you.

I have an extremely broad Northern Irish accent and it works 95% of the time. Even in the evenings when I'm trying to be quieter. Hopefully it will evolve like Google voice has over the last three years to where you can talk to it as opposed to reciting commands.

All the people saying "no you just didn't say the commands right" "voice was too soft" "not enough pausing" etc. THAT'S THE PROBLEM. You shouldn't have to say the commands a certain way. Doesn't matter if it works if you do it just right, the point is that this thing is worthless crap. Siri, Google Now, etc. all work WAY better than this. This is an utter embarrassment for Microsoft, especially since Kinect is a key feature of Xbox One.

I'm from Scotland and it works 90 percent of the time even when the tv is pretty loud it didn't work so well when more than one person is talking to it. But overall it's pretty impressive.

What if the Kinect doesn't want to listen to you based off of your voice. If you don't have authority in your voice, it doesn't listen lol.
