Do you believe that Mars colonization is a feasible goal, or are we destined to remain tethered to Earth?

A Convertible Starship with a telescope sounds interesting? It could potentially travel to multiple and preferred locations for imaging various targets

I'm retired now, but used to work in astronomy. There are several 6m and 8m telescope designs already being worked on with intent to launch via Starship. The JWST is about 6.5m in diameter but they had to use a folding segmented mirror design to get it to fit inside the rocket. Expensive, complicated and risky. The new designs are single piece mirrors. They have already made many 6.5m - 8.4m light weight honeycomb mirrors that are in operating telescopes. Ten years from now there will be many 8m class instruments in space, assuming starship achieves the necessary reliability.

A 8-meter telescope mirror would be about 10 times the size of Hubble's 2.4 meter mirror since it is the area of the mirror that provides the light gathering.

Not going to lie. My dyslexia kicked in and when you said "space condo" I heard "space condom" with the added context of one size fits all, I was really confused for a second. Had to back it up and relisten. 😂

I thought the suicide burn has to do with the Merlin's throttling ability. They have to perfectly time it so the burn balances out against gravity as it touches down and then immediately shuts off.

Elon should mount a raptor engine in the back of a cyber truck, now that would be an epic truck commercial lol.

2:55 : The best advertisment for the Cybertruck you can imagine. That light, the towing of SpaceX parts at the back, the two happy drivers, and the professionalism this radiates. The Cybertruck will become a world wide selling hit, for sure. I am looking forward to the day i see one (drive) for the first time live, right in front of me.

Graviticss: metal end-caps, fiber middle? Well, it only needs to withstand an OUTWARDS ONE atmosphere this time, unlike the Titanic dive!

The inclusion of polyethylene in the Gravitics structure serves a second function: some modulation of the radiation of solar flares. It could also use significant depths of polyethylene as interior lining with additional foam between the exterior and act as thermal insulation, as well as increasing radiation modulation.

FYI: Items on orbit can never be hit be a meteorite - by definition.
A meteorite is a meteor which has collided with earth. Until then, they remain meteors.
And so any natural item which hits something on orbit is a meteor.

It's also worth mentioning that if a pebble sized meteor makes two holes in a habitat on orbit, there is no need to panic: there will be several days in which to locate the holes, and seal them, because it takes a VERY long time to depressurize a large container with a small hole. A hole the size of your head is a different story - but you will easily have time to evacuate the module, and close the airtight doors, without a problem.

I recall the ISS had a leak for several months before it was found. And it wasn't a drama.

More FYI: there are no materials to develop for inflatable on orbit modules. They have been demonstrated on orbit three times, and one module continues in service on the ISS today. The proposed BA330 module by itself would have more internal volume than the entire ISS, and so they make more sense than metal modules, especially as they are capable of self-repairing punctures caused by micro meteors.

The Falcon 9 booster doesn't have "just enough fuel for landing". The actual challenge is that it makes too much thrust compared to its landing weight to allow for any sort of hover. The timing has to be perfect.

What people forget for the Mars trip is you only go every 2 years if there are people on board, it might take longer but you could launch every day remotely, and take the Venus slingshot too.
