I approve that the young person focused on New Drilling. They thought that far. Also, I respect they admitted they did mot know and acknowledge the question as thought provoking. I hope that happened. I also believe it happened. The question is on point. However the USA is not the country to use as surviving w/out oil. One in Northern EU is a more realistic example.

I'm against it only because of what their proposals are. If we shut off fossil fuels completely, so many ppl are gonna die. I'm super for subsidizing alt energy tech and encouraging it and being willing to integrate it if we can keep prices on the cheaper side so that lower income families don't get priced out or be forced to become reliant on government for energy payments.

Conscious way. Use alternatives where it's appropriate and provides a real benefit.
I don't know what the true statistic is but I think something like 50% of burned fossil fuels could easily be diverted for other uses because we have suitable alternative energy sources.
We can't eliminate oil entirely because oil is used to make paints, dyes, pharmaceuticals, plastics and a whole host of other things, but we can significantly reduce the burning of fossil fuels
