Singapore’s Changi Airport has been ranked the world’s best for seven years in a row now. But it isn't resting on its laurels, with the opening of a new nearly $1.3 billion “crown jewel” to stay ahead of the competition. CNBC’s Uptin Saiidi takes us inside.

It's amazing to see this in Singapore. Every time I land in SG and overwhelming feeling of peace and warmth that I have come home fills me up. I even enjoy taking the taxi to enter into the city corridors, no matter where I am coming from be it EU or other parts of south east Asia, no matter how enjoyable the visit was there's nothing that beats this amazing feeling.

I always stop in Singapore even though I can choose a direct flight. I can't sleep on the plane, so a few hour rest at Changi is awesome. Amazing airport.
