DIY Climbing Sticks - Ultralight

Показать описание

I finally decided to build a set of legitimate climbing sticks. This DIY project was intended to put my ideal set of features into a climbing stick. It is similar to a Lone Wolf in that it uses Lone Wolf V-brackets and a modified versa button; however, it uses a double step design, with two steps per stick, similar to a Muddy Pro stick. Amsteel rope is used to attach the sticks to the. With these sticks and aiders, I'm able to climb to 24 feet in a matter of minutes, with a total package of three sticks weighing 6.0 pounds.

I was a first-time hunter last year, and wasn't going to use sticks until I saw your webbing mod last year. Brought 3 deer into the freezer. Looking forward to trying them out again this year. Really appreciate the work you put into your videos!

Can someone win the Nobel Prize for hunting, because this guy is a shoe-in.

Pretty sweet, dude. Not only do you have a good setup, but your video is incredibly clear. Super helpful, so big thanks!

I don't think I've ever heard someone refer to "plastic deformation" in a video about hunting gear. So obviously, Subscribed!

Nice design! I made a skeletonized tube ladder 25 yrs them!
I located the tie off above center to eliminate the "piviot"....they also have a loose "peg" that they stack and pin together....can assemble the ladder and stand it up....tie off as you climb....
If you sand blast the aluminum, clean them good and than paint....makes the paint stick! Gives them a nice dull matt finish....
I worked my ass off to make my 2 set-up's....by hand...before CNC....
My stands incorporated A.L.I.C.E. pack frames for the waist load belt and QD shoulder
sand blast'em and paint'em you will love the result! 😀😀👍👍

Just found this video I've watched many of your other ones. The content and quality are 1st rate in all you do and it shows you really think things through. You are one of the best out there with hunting and hunting DIY content.

I first saw this guy on The Hunting Public Public Land Challenge. He's very smart deer hunting wise, and innovative.

Garrett, I made a set of four last year based on your design. I used a Bridgeport mill which I'm lucky to have access to, and drilled holes instead of milling. I also bar-tacked my own set of versa-straps like you showed in another post. They work great! Thanks for posting this up, man.

Very cool. Very well explained. I'm a machinist so I get all your explanations and even more so the work involved. I've used your rope mod, I've used your webbing step mod, I've used your silencing idea with hockey tape. Thanks so much! I'll probably stick with the lone wolf sticks but your new sticks are slick. I'm a short guy so I lean a stick against the tree and climb to hang the first step to gain some height. I use a millennium M7 but hate the hanging block. I'm currently doing diy versa buttons to fix that. Thanks again for your ideas and information.

Great job sir. I built several last year similar to this and similar to the lone wolf sticks with the swivel steps. I dont have a cnc machine so I was all from scratch. I'd be happy to send some pictures if your interested. I also built an aluminum stand but it needs some improvements after using it last year.

Good stuff, I've been considering my options with portable lock ons lately. Only thing I don't have is a CNC cutter... I can figure something out

This is awesome. I’ve been in the climbing stick rabbit hole all spring. I think I may do something similar or buy the api sticks and mod them. Thanks for sharing.

I really like this design. I haven't hunted from a tree stand but this makes it look easier

Those look awesome brother! I need to get in gear and make a set like that. My 20" muddy sticks just don't cut it for me and I can't always climb with spikes. These look perfect. Well done!
