This was Canada's unofficial anthem for 100 years. It is often played in old movies set in Canada and was the music played when the RCMP in the Coronation Parade rode by the palace. The punch line, "The Maple Leaf Forever", says "Canada" better than anything else ever could.

My grade 10 English teacher got us to listen to this every week in class because he thought it was better than our current national anthem. I am inclined to agree.

Canada is also my home. Bless our beautiful land brothers. This should be our national anthem.

In days of yore, from Britain's shore,
Wolfe, the dauntless hero, came
And planted firm Britannia's flag
On Canada's fair domain.
Here may it wave, our boast, our pride
And, joined in love together,
The thistle, shamrock, rose entwine
The Maple Leaf forever!

The Maple Leaf, our emblem dear,
The Maple Leaf forever!
God save our Queen and Heaven bless
The Maple Leaf forever!

At Queenston Heights and Lundy's Lane,
Our brave fathers, side by side,
For freedom, homes and loved ones dear,
Firmly stood and nobly died;
And those dear rights which they maintained,
We swear to yield them never!
Our watchword evermore shall be
"The Maple Leaf forever!"

The Maple Leaf, our emblem dear,
The Maple Leaf forever!
God save our Queen and Heaven bless
The Maple Leaf forever!

Our fair Dominion now extends
From Cape Race to Nootka Sound;
May peace forever be our lot,
And plenteous store abound:
And may those ties of love be ours
Which discord cannot sever,
And flourish green o'er freedom's home
The Maple Leaf forever!

The Maple Leaf, our emblem dear,
The Maple Leaf forever!
God save our Queen and Heaven bless
The Maple Leaf forever!

On merry England's far famed land
May kind heaven sweetly smile,
God bless old Scotland evermore
and Ireland's Em'rald Isle!
And swell the song both loud and long
Till rocks and forest quiver!
God save our Queen and Heaven bless
The Maple Leaf forever!

The Maple Leaf, our emblem dear,
The Maple Leaf forever!
God save our Queen and Heaven bless
The Maple Leaf forever!

This rendition of the Maple Leaf Forever left me with a lump in my throat. I love Canada so much to the degree that it’s my second home. Can’t wait to be back “home” soon.

Long ago a Breton colleen and a Scottish warrior made love and they had a son, and his name was Canada. God bless this amazing country! The Maple Leaf forever!

You know its Canada Day when the local regiment blasts this on bagpipes while going down the street.

@canadianmaple09 My Grandad (British) moved to toronto in 1912, and fought with the CEF at Ypres and Passchendaele. He regarded them as the best of the best. God bless Canada. Nigel, London

I can just see our boys rolling through narrow streets triumphantly with thousands of liberated people in awe as we march on to VICTORY ! God bless our heros, they live on forever.

Beautiful version, made me weep. As a Scottish Canada, this is a perfect combination of my ancestral land and home land. Thanks for making the effort.

This was played in WW1 by the 21st Canadian Expeditionary Force, of whom my G.Grandfather was a Sergeant in their ranks. He was a "Sapper"...and dug the tunnels, laid the wire, sent artillery flying...and died there. 😢 His gravesite is in the Doullens Cemetary with 1, 000s of other brave Canadians...

I love this song, and I'm not even Canadian. It's such a beautiful, stirring song.
