They only live about 3 years. Keep him, he's not releasable in my opinion! 😊

When I was a little girl, my Dad worked on a golf course. One day he brings home 4 baby opossums! So my siblings and I had the job of raising them(the mother had been killed). We went in shifts at night to feed the little ones. When they got big enough, we released them. I would occasionally see one of them peeking out of a burrow or hollowed tree stump, just watching us(we had a lot of land at the time). She’s right-they’re smart. They always remembered us

I can't help it, it breaks my heart 💔to think of you releasing him but I understand... I'm like this with every rescue, I *always* want them to be protected and loved by their human ~ forever

How will He ever learn to survive in the wilds?

I love possums. Every night we get the visit of Mr. Possum who diligently cleans up the left over food that we feed our community cats. I just love how well he cleans the dishes. The only American marsupial, a biological treasure.

Peppercorn! Precious name, precious baby possum. Possums serve a great service; they eat insects (mosquitoes!), fruit, mice + small mammals (+birds & their eggs 😞). Thankful this lady brought him back to health and will free him in the spring. Best wishes for a happy and healthy life, Peppercorn.

Peppercorn is very cute. Thank you so much for rescuing him when he was a tiny baby, or he never would have survived. You've done something so wonderful for this innocent little soul. I just pray that when you releaase him one day that he will be able to survive in the wild.

These creatures are amazing and of course humans think they are so ugly bc of their tail . . . kind of ridiculous. They are the sweetest creatures.

I understand that he wanted to always keep warm and to sleep in your hair, seeing how all the baby possums ride around on their mama's back.

Is Peppercorn even *capable* of being released in the wild? He was a newborn when he was rescued; his whole world is this woman who rescued him.

Is that really a wise choice?

Aww. These are so sweet. I know animals are meant to be wild & free but these stories always make me feel like I would never want the animal to be out of my sight because I would worry about it. I wouldn't want to let it go. Release day would break my heart every time!!💔💔

I hope you teach him to find wild food before his release. 💗

Please don't just leave Peppercorn in the wilderness. You're his mom. It would break his heart and destroy his mind for you to just dump him. He needs to know where you are so he can visit & reconnect. He is no longer wild. You have domesticated him & he is a pet who needs your daily support to survive. Thanks❤
