New Balance More V5 Vs Brooks Glycerin Max | Battle of the soft, max-cushioned running shoes

preview_player
Показать описание
The 5th version of New Balance’s max cushioned shoe receives a number of updates aiming to improve on the popular V4. The biggest of those is a new midsole composition using the same soft foam found in the 1080v13 and a slightly increased stack height. To counter the updates there’s a noticeably wide base to ensure plenty of stability in the shoe.

The Brooks Glycerin Max takes the fundamentals of the popular Glycerin line and beefs up the midsole with the brand's newest foam, DNA Tuned.

Made from dual-cell technology, DNA Tuned is a nitrogen-infused foam made up of large cells in the heel to provide soft, comfortable landings with smaller cells in the forefoot to promote a response toe-off.

You always seem to pick great shoes that are actually comparable to each other! Some reviewers waste time doing vs with shoes that don't even fall under the same type of shoe. Keep it up guys :)

I do trust Tom when it comes to cushioned shoes. Will buy both.

I fixed the dilemma of which to buy by getting both 😊

The More V3 was a special shoe. Definitely was a sleeper but worked so well for everyday and easy long runs

I am writing this before watching. I just purchased the Glycerin Max to replace my More V5’s the V5’s are amazing to walk in and to run in…for shorter distances. After 5k or so…my More’s, which have less than 100 miles on them, feel flat and have minimal response. Causing hot spots and foot fatigue for me. I had the same issue with the Nimbus 26…which is why I purchased the More’s.

So now I will try the Glycerin Max as my easy/recovery run shoe. Hopefully this is the one.

As for sizing…I recommend using the sizing tool provided on the Brooks website. Based on shoes, that I already own, the tool recommended I go up half a size. Glad I did. My toes would have little to no room if I had gone true to size. FYI. Great thing I found these at my local running shoe shop.

Now let’s see what you guys said about them…

I love them both as a bigger runner and the max are more for my faster easy runs lol

I can't imagine Kieran doing this review. This is just way up Tom's alley

Best thing about my Neo vistas! They feel like a max cushion shoe 😅

Own the glycerin max. I can tell you they are soft and squishy but yet supportive and don’t bottom out like the new balance do after a few days

Which is most plush soft superblast 2 or cloud monster 2 or nimbus 26

Have you ever tried the New Balance More Trail version for the different outsole? Or is it too heavy?

Have to totally disagree with Tom re: the More V4, I found it completely opposite, no response no turnover, the foam was just a totally energy sapping slushy mess. Did two runs trying to make them work but couldn’t wait to get them off my feet. Now sold and won’t take Toms advice on shoes!

I've been offered 50% off Glycerin Max $175 and NB 1080 v14 for 25% off $200. I really enjoy my 1080 v13. I cant decide which one do you recommend I pick?

Man those new balance More and 1080 color’s are really dull…

Weird comparison, Glycerin is responsive and fairly stiff, V5 is squishy and unstable. Glycerin vs SB2 makes more sense, with the Glycerin being better overall.

More v5 does the same job for less money.
