I live where all the stations are to the north but there's a big metal barn right across the street that way. Can only get a couple channels. Colorado front range. If I go up I can clear the barn but then the winds get really strong at times so it would have to be a sturdy antenna. I've tried that mohu type of antenna. I'm going to try your idea and maybe make the different shapes like you showed and compare. IDK. Thanks for the info. Cheers

After watching your video I made an indoor Flat TV antenna and it performed very good on UHF channel 26 (514 MHz). Signal quality is 100% and signal strength almost 70-75% outdoor and 55-60% indoor. No picture break-up.

Impressive but I still think your 8 ft piece of copper tubing you made into a folded dipole was easier. You find a 2nd piece of tubing for your UHF loop and you have a cheap combo antenna.

Question: Why should the 2 pieces be separate, because what I have read is that the outer shielding wire mesh is merely a ground wire?

But if it only gets one channel then it's not very helpful when there are over 75 OTA channels in my area.
I bought the Mohu Leaf Supreme Pro. It picks up nearly all the OTA channels in my area.

Interesting, I have tried homebrew designs but this is the easiest I've seen. Question. If a couple square feet of foil works, what about a whole roll hanging in the attic? Would an antenna tuner be beneficial? Is there a more permanent way to connect / solder the leads to the foil? Time to hit the dollar store for some supplies! I have found that some of these flat antennas work adequate for fm reception as well.

A bowtie shape works a bit better than a square.
If you look up the RF frequency of the station you can do an better design as far as width goes.
The best antenna will be one half of a wavelength at the RF frequency.
You can figure out wave length from frequency in MHz with
Wavelength = 300 Meters / MHz
A thrift store painting you can stand makes a good thing to attach the antenna to the back of.
