Damper Type, Function and Application Explained | FD MFD MFSD VCD MVCD NRD

In this video, I explain the basic types of dampers used in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). Apart from what being mentioned in the video, pressure relief damper (PRV) is a variant of NRD as they both rely on gravity/weight to close. PRV is used in traditional staircase and lift lobby pressurization where the fans are not equipped with VSD. The PRV is selected based on the maximum pressure allowed in the staircase or lift lobby. When the pressure exceeds the weight of the PRV, the PRV will be forced to open thereby relieving the pressure. This is how traditional staircase and lift lobby pressurization system control the pressure.
