As a personal aside Dr. Marshall I have been away from EVERYTHING Catholic for 40 years. I've been crying for seven days off and on. I found my late mother's rosaries yesterday. As a former Protestant, I was actually brought into the Church by the Novus Ordo, but having spent 25 years as a Catholic, I’m now a traditional Latin Catholic! The Novus Ordo is a psychotic error!

My grandmother say her rosary everyday all 3 mysteries Joyful Sorrowful and Glorious in Latin and it was handed down to her by own mother; great-grandmother and so on; even their prayer books and novenas were in Latin. And they always dress up long skirts; nice long sleeves tops; veils on going to Mass so much reverence; I love it.

i'm a gen z catholic and was taught by my very modernized Catholic primary school that the NO was the original ancient Mass. i maintained those beliefs because the alternative would be that the adults i trusted were lying to me (they were), but because i knew Latin, i was suspicious of the phrase "novus ordo" to describe this form. after years of poor catechism, like so many, i turned away from the Church, but i still sought out God. through prayer, He lifted the wool from my eyes, and i have had to come to terms with these lies. thank you, Dr. Marshall, from one Texan to another, for sharing your knowledge about this subject.

I go to the TLM and I really believe it is more respectful in every way.. I was raised in the Novus Ordo mass. I believe the Novus Ordo to be very distracting for me. There was a choir member singing up front, then there was a guitarist on the other side. There was people coming up the isle bring up the gifts. It is just too distracting and somewhat disrespectful, and no silence at all for prayer. I grew to not want to attend the Novus Ordo because of all the noise!! I want to pray at Mass not be noisy.
Karl, my husband, started going to the Latin Mass and that is how I got to go to the TLM.. I thank God for Karl to get me to go to the TLM..

My husband and I drive 1 1/2 hours to another state to attend the Traditional Latin Mass. Today was a High Mass as it’s the feast day of Christ the King. I felt like I was in heaven.

Reminds me so much of the music from Scooby-Doo. Grooovvveee! Also it's true that Italian has many different dialects. My friend from Naples couldn't understand what a street sign said in Northern Italy.

Many Irish spoke Latin and Greek… … one of the Irish rebels who was taken to court in front of the English King astonished the court by speaking Latin with the priests who were called in as interpreters and also doing all his own reading and writing… also, there is an account of a son of an English landlord’s son practicing his “Greek lesson” near an Irish groundskeeper, when he had finished the Irishman told him, in Greek, that he had done well. Many Irish were trilingual even during the penal days when they were forbidden to be educated…

Im going thru RCIA and yesterday we had the reading from Justin Martyr and a guest lecturer who quietly criticized the TLM and drew comparisons between the JMartyr mass and the Novus Ordo. There was a lot of eye rolling but many didn't understand what he was doing. Interestingly the "Goals" of the NO talks about joining together in faith with other Christians, not with Catholics. Makes sense
