In this Introduction to Power BI, we teach you 5 of the important Power BI Parts, namely Power Query, Data Modelling, DAX Expressions, Reporting Features, and Publishing to Power BI Service. Power BI is a very powerful business intelligence tool. If Excel isn’t cutting it for your data analysis and modeling, then you likely need to move up to Power BI.

With this 2-hour crash course, you will learn how to import CSV, Excel, and Text files in Power BI and how to transform the data using Power Query. We then look at creating Lookup Tables and Merging Queries. We also cover Data Modelling basics such as creating Relationships between tables and creating a dynamic Date Table using DAX, as well as other DAX Power BI Formulas.

The second half of this video defines Calculated Columns vs Measures and how to create a Key Measures Table. We also teach you how to build a Power BI Report, including adding Visualizations, adding Pages, Bookmarks, and Buttons, and Formatting. Finally, we show you how to pin Visualizations to a Dashboard before Publishing Reports to the Power BI Service.

We've even included downloadable course files so you can follow along in this course. This will help you put what you are learning into practice and master Power BI.

Part 2 data is not consistent with part 1 data. It is difficult to match the two parts.

Such a very informative tutorial. Just very disappointed because on the part 2 of the course there is a complete new dataset that is being used by the instructor that was not used in part 1 and unfortunately that is where the tutorial had to end because we cant follow along anymore😮‍💨😮‍💨

This started out so well but at the halfway point the data files changed and you can no longer follow along. I managed to add in the missing date columns in the calendar table on my own but there is not enough info to create the columns that are missing on the sales table. Plus there is an error somewhere in the first half causing the data view on the sales table to appear blank although the data is still there. Wish I had read the other comments first...

Can I just add? I am so grateful for this course however, it is really frustrating where the materials that you provide does not go with the video. Unit price, unit cost, sales quantity was not shown. Please can you upload that bit of information so I can complete this course? Thank you.

Hi, I am trying to create a measure using count rows formula. It is giving me all the time 1 as output. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Also, I have created date table as you have demonstrated in the video and I created a column called week and tried to keep the unique data according to the week column but I am not being able to see that as the table is not visible to the power query editor. I will really appreciate if you can assist me to solve the issues. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for sharing :)
I am newbie in Power Platforms, I just have a few question because im confused in some parts of power bi and just want different opinions/answers .
1. in your opinion is power bi can support large data?
2. if there is a data inserted in excel is power bi automatically update the published reports or the user need to reupload the excel ?
3. I saw in the video that you unable the data load of the sales_prep table but there is new a new table Sales which refered to sales_prep table, the sales_prep table is connected to the imported excel(2016, 2017 etc) if the user insert a new data in the sales.xlsx is the power bi data automatically update or not?
