Tuesday noon tropical weather update: Iota blasts way across Central America

Hurricane Iota is now a tropical storm as of Tuesday afternoon as it moves inland over Nicaragua with flooding rain.

Iota was a Category 5 hurricane on Monday before it made landfall as a Category 4 storm with winds of 155 mph around 9:40 PM CST near Haulover, Nicaragua. That location was 12 nautical miles south of where Category 4 Eta made landfall back on November 3. It is just incredible that two Category 4 hurricanes made landfall in November, let alone in almost the same place.
