Water methanol does work better than straight water but just straight water will work and it also helps with high compression engines

In todays modern engines with low tension piston rings. Water injection eliminates carbonization of the piston ring lands which results in oil consumption. Every manufacturers has nearly the same oil consumption issues. Stuck carbon fouled piston rings. Water/methonal injection

I will argue that the water flashing to steam and expanding in the combustion chamber adds boost not just cooling and effectively makes the combustion engine also a steam engine at the same time… i believe in the diesel engine application some steam may even become ionized under compression and act like a hydrogen gas catalyst for creating more complete combustion during the beginning of the power stroke…
