What's the difference between E85 vs Water Methanol Injection?

In this video I explain the differences between E85 vs water methanol injection.

E85 and water methanol injection are very similar in their composition and also in the role they play in power gains.

E85 is an abbreviation typically referring to an ethanol fuel blend of 85% denatured ethanol fuel and 15% gasoline or other hydrocarbon by volume. In the United States, the exact ratio of fuel ethanol to hydrocarbon may vary according to ASTM 5798 that specifies the allowable ethanol content in E85 as ranging from 51% to 83%.

Water/methanol injection systems deliver a finely atomized mist of a water/methanol mixture to an engine's cylinder charge, and as the mixture absorbs heat and vaporizes, temperatures inside the cylinder are reduced and the propensity for detonation is decreased.

Both are used to reduce the likelihood an engine will knock while increasing pressures with in the combustion chamber via a turbocharger or supercharger.

I chose methanol injection and 93 octane. There is no dependable e85 near me. But i have run e85. Once i found out the variables of e85 i went methanol. Much simpler and you know what your getting everytime.

I went from 310kw to 413kw by using E85, works very well, but upgrades had to be made.

You only use W/M when you're on boost vs e85 at all times.
You must have a flex fuel kit installed where there's no e85 around or planning to travel or you're stuck. Also is corrosive so you must use "special" injection systems to be compatible and so you gotta buy other parts to support the set up whereas W/M don't, as it's being sprayed from a reservoir not the gas tank.
E85 gives lots of fuel issues compared to W/M plus e85 sucks in the winter.
W/M is the way to go, I'm getting a kit for the summer, more convenient, less expensive and meant for daily driving.

I have a 98 S366 supra 6spd. Been contemplating which route: E85 or Meth/Water injection. I have two E85 stations near me. My goal is about 650HP. The shop I have in mind estimates about $6500 to fully convert my car to E85 w/ flex fuel (parts and labor). I already have a HKS Vpro, 1000cc injectors, walbro 450 ready to be installed. I just need to purchase a quality meth kit (have the snow performance stage 3 in mind). Other mods I have are Tomei 264 cams, HKS DLI, and the usual bolt ons. What do you recommend? Been in this scene since 2004 and I've heard so many horror stories on meth kits failing...but with technology now, surely fail-safes have improved a lot better?

I’m currently running E85+ on my car but still seeing higher levels of heat in the engine causing my electric fans to constantly stay on and sometimes my coolant temp’s are very high. Is it possible to run both E85 and water meth to keep the engine temperature down during boost?

is flex fuel the same as e-85? Royal Farms has what they call Flex Fuel 104 I assume 104 is the octane rating which is about what e-85 is supposed to have (105) but I'm not sure I can assume the actual ethanol content. I'm running a full bolt ons Stage 2 Plus 2015 BMW 335i and am thinking about doing a meth kit too, already have the connector on my VRSF charge pipe so I'm set up for it. I do hear that the best set up for my car is running 50/50 meth/water and on a E-20 map if I'm on a stock fuel system. I assume I would need a custom map to really get the benefits of meth though, what do you think?

Why does my Toyota hilux sr5 5vzfe engine run better when mixed with standard unleaded mixed with E85 even tho burns quicker but it revs harder and it pulls harder? Just wondering?

Can Water Methanol Be Used To Run More Boost / HP On Same Ring Gap? I Got A 5.7 Hemi With Stock Ring Gap And It's Making 450AWHP With Zero Knock And Only Has 11 Degrees Of Total Timing In It. I Got Enough Fuel System For More But No Idea How Close The Rings Are To Kissing. Would Water Methanol Effective Allow Me To Make More HP With Same Ring Gap? Lol Sounds Weird This Way.
