A little tip on the wooden pallets that I have come across is that you wet them or power wash them really good and then pick them apart. They come out real easy and don't break... then you just let them dry..

great video. I have been passing up the wood pallets and just picking up the plastic ones to make a yard for the dogs... guess I'll be picking up some wooden pallets from now on. Had my first bear of the year stop by yesterday to check out the hives. people said they are still hibernating, but my pictures say at least one isn't. he didn't even test the ele fence, must have been thru here before and knew the ticking of the fencer meant keep away.

Using just the nails is a safer bet because bees can be pretty picky…the fumes from a glue can cause them to move closer to their natural environment.

Would lumber straight from the sawmill work? I didn't know if bees needed smooth planed lumber.

I build my own boxes. I have to. Everything is unaffordable. This ... can be tricky though. i don't have good saws or equipment. So sometimes its hard to get the cuts and parts just right. This gave me another worry recently that I thought I might ask you about.

If you have a 2nd box above a 1st one, and if both are homemade, how big can you have the gap between the two boxes without the queen 'not seeing' or not crossing over right between the boxes? Is there a certain depth where she's not likely to cross, and for her to sort of get bound? Most people don't worry about this because they are just buying boxes that others make. But if you are doing your own stuff then you aren't always sure, especially if you don't have expert carpentry skills and good perfect quality saws. I do know about bee space and try to get there, but its not always perfect you know...

...

Well, thanks for listening.

I'm curious what your next bee video will be about.

And are you guys having store problems down there? There sure a lot of rumors and videos of people claiming food shortage stuff. And I hope you stay safe and happy.

I'm curious if you've tried any Saskatraz before? And if so, how'd they do?

Are the pallets heat treated or chemically treated?

Why should you let your company sell the hardwood pallet or apply it towards pallet exchange when you can just throw it on your truck and take it home.
