Thanx for the video I was thinking about getting it but no wayy. I use randall amps too and they pretty mutch sound like they have some gating going on if you don't plug any pedals into them. It's gotta be even shittyer with noisy amps

Probably just don't need the gate when your on cleans I've got this pedal and it does the same thing I have a noise gate in my effects Loop and one in my effects that come off the front of my amp

Watching how Marty Friedman's tech utilizes this pedal, it's probably best to just turn it on for clearer palm muting rhythm parts and turn it off for solo's. At least with palm muting you don't have to worry about sustain. I would set a rhythm preset on my Boss ES5 with it and done.

Sounds like you are getting tone suck, but my unit has this extreme unusable tone suck. I use an MXR SmartGate, but it's also wonky. I have to run it with the threshold dial all the down (counterclockwise). If I nudge it clockwise, even a hair, it gets instant extreme tone-suck, that cuts the guitar tone to a thin buzzy sound (sounds like a dead battery, but I have mine on power supply) and is unusable. It actually blocks hiss, and feedback quite well with high gain at home. But in a band setting, there isn't enough threshold to stop unwanted feedback, and turning up the threshold is not possible.

maybe try putting the smartgate in a different position, it looks like it is in the middle of your pedalboard. try for example as first or as last in your chain. I have the pedal as wel and, yes there are better ones, but they come with a heavier pricetag. The best noisesuppresor I have is the one built in my ENGL powerball and ENGL raider 100. I have a boss es 5 as well so there is no pedals influencing each other and are basically independent on that system and together with the smartgate it works really well
