Introduction to Innate Immunity

By now we've introduced a number of elements of the immune system. Now it's time to start learning how these work together to recognize and eliminate pathogens. Let's start by taking a deep dive into the innate immune response. This includes barrier defense, the complement system, the inflammatory response, and innate immune cells. What are all of these components? What do they do? Let's introduce them now so that we can investigate them over the next several tutorials!

This series on the immune system has been innately fantastic! Must admit that I'm looking forward to the upcoming discussions on the adaptive immune system.

Keep up the great work and thank you, Professor Dave!

You are the most nostalgic educational channel out there. My favorite teacher EVER would play your videos every day. Now here I am, still watching during my freshmen year

Dave, first time on your channel and I've just watched your 'Natural vs Synthetic Vitamin' video.

Question:

What is the actual process of manufacturing vitamins suitable for vegans such as B12?

I'm not only talking about the ingredients, but the whole process...if that makes sense.

Is there petroleum involved at any stage for example?

If only more people would listen to Professor Dave, rather than Rand Paul and Chet Hanks. Keep on fighting the good fight my friend.

Dave, got a bit of an interesting question that I don't know if you will be able to answer. Theoretically speaking the closer we get to the speed of light the slower our reference of time becomes. so in theory if we somehow surpass the speed of light time would begin to flow backwards. Now assuming we magically surpass the speed of light do you think we might be able to go fast enough to make time flow forwards again and just how exponentially faster do we need to go to to make it happen?

What are the limitations of innate immunity in providing long-term protection against infectious agents, and how can these limitations be overcome to develop more effective strategies for preventing and treating infections? If you can answer me i will be thankful 😊
