There are plenty of government funded corporations and contractors that fail. This is the cost of research and development in a forward moving world. It is sad that so many people still seem reluctant to change.

Perhaps but remember, oil and other fossil fuels are called non renewable for a reason. Sure we may have enough natural gas to keep us running for 100 years, but what happens when it runs out? The price of oil on the other hand will keep rising with demand from the growing economies of China and India. Eventually it will cost more to get your car filled with gas than with biofuel, and when that happens? It would be amazing if we already had a system in place by then to meet that demand.

Tax carbon. Make carbon energy more expensive than alternatives. Then carbon free alternatives would not need subsidies to survive in free market.

And there we go folks. This is whats wrong with the american system. We enclose ourselves into partisan groups and chose to believe only what we want to. All what I said was true go look it up. But I also took the time out of the day to look up the green jobs, and guess what you were right. even though more are employed in green jobs than under bush, the industry has shrunken slightly.

Oh, I didn't realize you were so misguided my bad. In case you haven't noticed, you have to be working on a renewable energy source to be labeled as one. The people you talk about are not actually listed as green jobs, and Obama has made no such claim. And yes, despite solyndra solar, wind, and hydroelectric are expanding feilds and gasp! employing.
