Smart decision by John Gosden & Prince Khalid to bypass the step up in trip to a mile with Calyx in Saturday's Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, IMO. I think he heads back to Royal-Ascot next, surely as the ante-post favorite for this year's G1 Commonwealth Cup over the same course & distance as today's win in the G3 Pavilion Stakes and the same course & distance as his impressive win in last season's G2 Coventry Stakes! Really like this colt a lot.

Calyx is pure speed, avoiding the step up to 1M & the Guineas will prove a very shrewd move. The rest finished in the heap in & left in the dust. Calyx will win the Commonwealth Cup in June & hopefully go on to be a top class sprinter 🌸⚪️💚

Calyx could break 72 seconds for the 6 furlongs at Ascot if pushed along. The Commonwealth Cup looks to be at his mercy.
