How on earth did this horse win?!

Unbelievable! Kermouster rears-up in the stalls, is left at the start and detached from the runners for most of the race and then somehow manages to win – take a bow Sam James…

That is how a race is supposed to be ridden; collect you horse, rate him, and guide him safely through.
The horse has the speed, the jockey handles the timing and the steering. Teamwork.

The title of this video practically forces you to focus on the horse at the back of the pack.

Me: YESS I PICKED THE RIGHT JOCKEY!!
My mind: The title made you look at the one at the back. You did nothing.
Me: I KNOW OKAY JUST LET ME HAVE THIS

He got an excellent ride. Trip from back to front was flawless.

Amazing, it's almost like the horse knows where the line is the way he sticks his neck out and dives at the line.

The horse actually sticks his head out on the line at the very point.Sign of an exceptionally intelligent horse.Speed and intelligence are a formidable combination. Like to see if this horse moves his head while watching an airplane fly over, as Secretariat did.

I loved the ride, no rushing the horse to make the ground no shoving and pumping, excellent.

If you want to see an unbelievable finish watch the 2017 Darley TJ Smith Stakes from Australia. This is a Group 1 race for the best sprinters in the country. I've seen it a hundred times and I still wouldn't back the winner!!!

There are more races like this in places where jockys rate the horse off the pace that is usually too fast ...then have more horse to finish faster....tactical....we need to see more of this kind in the US...the science of Sports !!

Now this is a VERY good performance by both horse and jockey!

I said to the jockey on this well done and it looked like once he missed the break that he had accepted his fate and was just getting a run into the horse to let it get home in its own time, until it looked to me that he suddenly realised that if he pushed it out then he might run on and make the frame and then later if he gave it a slap or two that it might even get up late on.

His reply was "yeah, basically that was it after the start we got and was all I could really do".

You can see the sudden burst of speed it has at 0:56 - sometimes horses just want to go at specific times and this was one such instance.

My god!!!!

Even when you know it’s the horse at the back you still don’t believe it’s possible

Just amazing

They all went to fast and a case of picking up the pieces but still an amazing run considering how poorly it broke from the stalls!!!

The first 3 furlongs were run in 34 seconds and the last 3 in 37secs. The last furlong was run in 14 seconds and the first in a shade under 11 seconds. From this I glean some pointers for in-play traders. If only I had spent more time at school studying dovetail joints I would have a less wobbly table to rest my keyboard.

I wonder how much the whip hurts the horse. I can't imagine it hurts too badly for a horse cause if it hurt too much the horse would react negatively. I've felt one on my arm though and it hurts like hell
