Countdown to Cop26 One month to go

Ahead of the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties - known as Cop26 - in Glasgow, we look at statistics showing the world is increasingly becoming warmer.

The summit will host 120 heads of state and around 20,000 accredited delegates and will aim to accelerate action to tackle climate change.

North America experienced its warmed June ever noted, while July was the hottest month ever recorded worldwide.

Why oh why do we have this COP26 event in Glasgow or anywhere else? I know very important climate issues should be discussed but why do thousands of people have to fly into Scotland and probably bring on another Covid surge? Surely this is the opposite of what they are trying to achieve? Less flying, less carbon footprint, less waste. In this day and age why can't they do this on Zoom or some other platform?
