Some thoughts on Reinbacher..

OK Guys, it's time to take a look at what this upcoming season means for David Reinbacher... Who struggled last season with Kloten in Switzerland.. The entire team struggled.. However, at the end of the year when he was playing for the Laval Rocket.. Reinbacher looked pretty solid. I'm hoping this is going to be a big year for him in Laval, and in today's video we go over this topic.

Let me know whatcha think of this one down in the comment section!

Everyone talks about the Habs needing to make trades on defense. They don't need to make those trades this year (at least until the trade deadline).

Hutson 2 games of NHL experience
Reinbacher 11 games of AHL experience
Mailloux 1 NHL game, full AHL season.

It would not hurt any of these 3 to play in Laval. Give them all a sniff with the Habs on long road trips, but otherwise leave them in Laval. None of them need to clear waivers to go back and forth to Laval, that leaves for the Habs

Matheson Guhle
Xhekaj Savard
Harris Barron
Struble

With Struble being the only one of the 7 that is waiver exempt.

Give the 3 Musketeers top 4 playing time in Laval, and in all situations, 5v5, PP and PK.

Come trade deadline, Savard will be gone at the very least, you can then bring up Mailloux to replace him until the end of the season (by then probably the one most ready to make the full time jump to the NHL, and benefits by being a RD)

Absolutely zero reason to push any of those 3 to the Habs too early. Last thing we need is another Mete, KK, Galchenyuk, etc, etc.

The best thing that could happen to Reinbacker would be to stick to Laval and bring that team to the playoffs. Then try to go as far as possible in the playoffs. This is the kind of experience he needs to live

A good AHL season is probably the best for David, but giving him some NHL minutes at the end of the season (assuming the Habs are out of playoff contention by that point) could be a good first taste

I said in another video about Reinbacher, he's in the league of a Roman Hamrlik archetype. He's a good pick and MTL wasn't willing to bet on Mitchkov. I doubt he will be a cornerstone defense in the likes of He will most likely become a NHL defenseman from 2nd to to 4th position.

Junkie love your connecting the dots (Thoughts). The latest being “ Reinbacher - he’s kinda like being the middle child… “ You da Man” or more accurately the “Middle Man”!😂

I hope he gets to spend the entire season with Laval unless our injuries are once again out of control.

There's no rush with him, we got Mailloux and Barron for a righty.

I hope David turns into my favorite defenseman. It's not going to be easy with Hutson, Xhekaj and Mailloux to compete with. But unfortunately for Reinbacher I'll always have a hard time digesting that the Habs could have chosen a forward like Michkov or Leonard instead. It's unfortunately going to be at the back of my mind. The pressure will be on. BUT if the Habs become a Cup contender and the Habs have the league's best D and Reinbacher is part of that, I will slowly forget where he was drafted and who the Habs could have drafted instead. He looks like a good guy and I'll be clearing for him regardless of how I feel about the pick. He deserves a fair shot.

35-45 points with a solid defensive game is what I expect. If he does more than that then him really impressed with this pick

Beauty as always. If I may, future video suggestions: Hutson, Logan, or Popcorn, who do you keep, who do you deal? Or, Mario Armia, a career retrospective and projection of the Habs’ unofficial top prospect. .

I see him as a top pairing, stable and reliable, LHD in the NHL. Our future top 4 on both sides ALL have top 2 potential, so wherever he'll fit in there will be A-okay with me dude.
Good, smart and big LHDs that can quarterback their zone are very hard to come by, so especially given our most recent draft, Popcorn does indeed fill an insanely important need.
We have top RHDs for days almost, but we need to build pairs and special teams, so we'll see.

Again, if he can become a top 4 D in OUR system when we start competing, it would mean that he'd be a top 2 D in many many other teams (IF our prospects and young D core keep their current projection obviously).

And for those that actually watched Laval last year, you just know the kid is going to be a stud.
A calm D that will make the right plays, that will make our goalies better, etc. No team can win without such a Dman.

What I'm wondering is how he'll balance that stuff with his possible offensive upside. IDK, but he'll definitely be important in PPs.
