As someone who worked in furniture industry for over 10 years, please note - most furniture stores do NOT have warm lighting. This is important to be aware of since color looks different depending on your lighting. So if you are shopping in cool lighting and then bring the furniture to your home with warm lighting it can look very different. I’ve seen furniture pieces that look brown in one lighting and then green in another.

Great tips! Can I suggest one more? A nice scent. It really makes a good impression when you enter a space that smells nice.

While watching this video I: tidied up the room, lit up 2 candles, turned on my twinkle lights and the electric fireplace (just the flames), put on fuzzy socks and announced to my hubby “I made the living room cozy!” ❤️

She hit 3 good senses: sight, touch, and hearing (removing the room echo). Don’t forget to try hitting other senses!
Smell: scented candles, oil diffusers, or even putting a teaspoon of vanilla extract in the oven (safely) will make your place smell heavenly ~> cozy
Taste: having candy/chocolates in a decorative bowl or container, and for the bakers and extra people (like me) surprising guests with fresh cookies 🍪
Baking really warms up the place...literally 🥧

Wow, this designer is spot on with her tips and suggestions. Having spent most of my working career in the interior design profession, I completely concur with her ideas. I was very pleased that she placed "lighting" in the number one, top position! I have stressed this major design element with all of my clients... essential in creating the proper mood for a room.

Another tip I'd add is to paint the wall with the right paint. I love colors similar to clay or the mocha ish looking color. The right color walls to me are everything.

Floor pillows would be a great idea too for extra seating without taking up too much space and they’re beautiful 😊

Thank you! I also think colors are important.Warm accents of color can be inviting to a space.I'm off to buy some plants.Not only do they give a warm, friendly, healthy feeling but there are certain plants that purify the air we breathe, which is amazing.

Thanks for urging people to wear slippers in the house instead of outdoor shoes. So natural for us who have been to Asia Hawaii or Scandinavia. Great suggestion for guest slippers! Cozier and definitely cleaner for the house.
