iBuyPower Gaming Desktops SCAM? Honest, Not-Sponsored Review!

iBuyPower is incredibly popular custom desktop builder, but there’s a reason why they can make these gaming ready desktops so cheap, and that’s because they go cheap on some parts, but how badly do these cheap parts affect the computer performance? We’re going to take a look, do some benchmarks, and get to the bottom of whether or not iBuyPower is worth purchasing.

"Would I recommend this machine that gets 190 fps on games on ultra settings for gaming?" Gee let me think about that for a second.

I got an ibuypower from best buy a couple years ago before I knew much. It came with an i7 and a gtx 1060 3gb and an asus gaming motherboard. and a decent rated power supply. I have upgraded the card since then and the computer still performs fantastic.

This was explained extremely well. I was just expecting a review, not a full in depth explanation as to why certain parts might not be the best. Great vid

Honestly, great review, glad to see more people realizing that prebuilts aren't all bad if you actually just do research to make sure you get good parts. One small criticism I have though is not to have such a title that suggests that it is, because in the video you say that it isn't, and people who don't actually click on the video or don't watch the whole thing might not realize that you didn't actually get scammed. Also, a lot of their PCs do have the 3 fan variants for GPUs like my RTX 2080 Windforce that came with mine.

That’s false information your giving, the temperature has nothing to do with the motherboard. It’s a great motherboard and the one of the best Z390 for its price. Real problem is the cpu cooler being 120mm and in-house made. I must agree on the gpu thought. You can tell that gpu was made to save cost. Overall they cut corners on the gpu, the cpu cooler and the cable management, aka time = money less time put into making it = less cost. Please next time don’t blame the wrong parts.

I got one of these, a similar one, and the radiator started making a really weird noise after a few months. Then it started crashing.

For cooling that’s why I like coolermaster cabinets with two 200 mm fans and 1 120mm and your 280 mm cpu cooler keeps temps down to 32 to 37 degrees

Its not the motherboard at fault here. Its the choice of a 120mm AIO.

Also the 9900k in general is a very hot CPU thanks to not so good solder solution.

Or. You could just customize it and upgrade the motherboard and the cooler to a 240mm before checkout.

The video card and the processor themselves are $1700+ themselves. So this is very worth it.

Major problem with that water cooler. It is sufficient at stock but OC looks like that small one which is too tiny in my honest opinion for any overclocking. Sure its water cooling, but it has such little area to cool, before making a loop again which could overwhelm the water cooler itself. Happy to hear it did not thermal throttle but a 240 or 360 water cooler would be a big improvement.

Thank you very much for this honest video. I just bought the new, 3080 version of this PC and now I’m very excited! When I first saw “scam” on the title I was like, oh no. But I DO fall into the “pure gamer” category you were talking about and I cannot wait to get this machine and use it! Thanks again. I subbed 💪🏻

The shipping takes so long tho, I paid for over night shipping and that didn't count for the built, it took a month for them to build it and one night to ship it...

I just got one of these last Friday and honestly I'm disappointed. I've only been playing games and it's been hard restarting on me at least once every couple of days. I thought this would be something they would check on or fix during QC, but it seems this slipped through. I'm not the only person who has had this problem, I have a friend who got the exact same machine and had to send it back, got refunded and went to Falcon instead.
I don't want to go through all of this, nor do I want the fun of the RMA process. I just can't recommend this if this is such a common issue.

I've seen some like these on Amazon for like $400-500, I'm on a budget and i'm kinda itching to buy but dunno because of some of the 50/50 reviews about it.
