Highly recommend Spiritfarer to anyone who hasn’t gotten to it yet. Management style sim about death + you have a cat that follows you everywhere. Don’t let the platform style throw you off, it’s very very light (not a fan of platformers myself). It’s very wholesome and you have plenty of quests and tasks to keep you progressing.

Another more odd pick is Cult of the Lamb - management meets rogue-like combat. If you are interested in some spookyness added to your cozy, and are okay with trying out a bit of combat (I set it to easy mode and have a lot of fun button smashing), you might end up loving it! It’s silly, cute, a little spooky, and for me it was so addicting! Not for everyone but definitely a great game for its own little niche in cozy category.

One of my fave games that I would consider a 'cozy game' is Cat Goes Fishing. It is very simple and has a day/night cycle that changes the fish in the sea. It can be a bit eerie at times when you sink to the silent depths of the ocean, but as you rise to the surface, the music slowly comes back which makes the journey down far more impactful

More cozy games:

Untitled Goose Game - A lovely game set in a little English village where you play as a goose. If you find satistfaction from making people suffer, this game is for you.

Va11 Hall-A - If you liked Coffee Talk, you might like this. Its a visual novel where you play as a bartender working in a cyberpunk megacity. The game is heavily insoired by old school sci-fi anime and PC-98 visual novels (which it's upcoming sequel seems to lean more heavily on). It shares the same gameplay as Coffee Talk wherein you serve drinks and chat with unique and charming patrons, often giving them advice on how to solve or cope with their own problems.

Sims 4 - Controversial pick, but the game is really fun and comforting, especially if you pirate all the dlcs rather than pay for them.

Cozy Games in the A Short Hike genre like A Lil Gator Game, Alba, and Haven Park are all similar yet different in their own ways.

Short wholesome games with definitive endings that are satisfying to complete.

One cozy game that really stood out to me this year was A Highland Song! It's a gorgeous game in which you're a girl who runs away from home to go to her uncle who lives in a lighthouse. It has you travelling through the Scottish Highlands and climbing mountains, as well as running through nature in a rhythm game.

Played Unpacking, cried at the end. Didn't touch it for a while, decided to play through again pretty slowly, cried again at the ending 🥲 why is it so simple and sweet?

i'd recommend spirittea, abzu, a short hike, cloudpunk and little kitty big city (the last four ones are rather short tho). they're all so cute and i love the storylines and the aesthetics!! 💞

I find crpgs quite cozy without them being really proper cozy game. Recently I have been playing pillars of eternity in my own pace. Walking around fantasy world some combat but with pause, lot of reading going trought gear, getting immersed in world. Is quite relaxing, I think we can find more cozy games outside the expected genre, or games made to be cozy.

Palia seems cozy until you try the Jump Challenge.
Then it's no longer cozy.

I know its a really stupid game concept but placid plastic duck simulator is one of my favorite cozy games ever. Its just about looking at plastic ducks doing things at a pool but its really relaxing and fun. There are events in the maps and ducks that have special quirks like propeller hat duck flying or rock duck just sinking. So if you just want to pop a game and watch plastic ducks being silly i really recommend this game

It's not really a "cozy" game necessarily, but a game I love, and am somewhat addicted to, is Power Wash Simulator.

I like to play it whenever I need/want to relax and it really is one of the most relaxing and satisfying games I've ever played.

My current favorite cozy-ish game is My Time at Sandrock! It’s full release but still gonna get content updates.

Lost ember is similar to chia, lost ember is a good cozy game, you explore a world as a wolf but can change animals as you come across them and has an amazing storyline... I would love for you to check it out

I'd add Dave the Diver to the list. It definitely has a lot of the hallmarks of a cozy game.

Not the usual 'cozy game' but Baba is You, it's now one of my favorites! It's a puzzle game, which I usually really don't like, but I love this one.

The art style and music got me first (hand-drawn and weird), but the gameplay is so clever, you have to find your way out by moving and swithcing words from the written rules. I do find it cozy even if it get a little stressful, it's very satisfying to play in general, and when you finally complete that level that took you days to solve.

If you're a fan of Coffee Talk, VA-11 Hall-A is a MUST. Instead of a fantasy coffee shop, it's a cyberpunk bar. The characters are incredible, the music is amazing (and there's a jukebox to choose which track plays), and the drink-making mini game is very similar to the one in Coffee Talk. VA-11 Hall-A is one of my favorite games and I love returning to the story.

Ever heard of Spirit of The North? It was free on epic two years ago or so, but I think it's worth the price - the game is about you controlling a fox who died and was revived by a spirit, and were then tasked with restoring the northern lights. It's got gorgeous terrain inspired by Iceland, a fantastic soundtrack, and the puzzles it gives you are actually quite head-scratching. The beginning is quite slow (especially chapter 2) but otherwise it's a fantastic game.
