Many times, people’s beliefs are also just appeals to tradition, ideology by inheritance and never individually rationally investigated. The Socratic method therefore is also a non-hostile approach to awakening the mind towards beliefs people hold so dogmatically as being core aspects of their own self yet never took the time to ask why and whether what is, is what ought to be.
