The scandal-plagued swimmer explains what really happened during that late-night gas station stop in Rio.

Watch The Late Show with Stephen Colbert weeknights at 11:35 PM ET/10:35 PM CT. Only on CBS.

---
Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

100 bucks Lochte watched this and thought, "when did I interview with Stephen Colbert?"

Lochte is a good looking dude for sure. But he's a man-child. A 32-year old frat guy still living in his frat years. Time to grow up.

The intoxicated scene is the part that kills me. With the cat toy, the way Colbert asks it, it just kills me.

Exaggerated? Intoxicated? No wonder he couldn't answer the questions. Learning those big words must have exhausted his brain.

All these swimmers America brings to the world... they're bringing criminals, rapists, some I assume are good swimmers!

until he repeated intoxicated a few times, I thought he was the real Ryan Locte

he looks like combination of Sylvester Stallone and Ryan Gosling

I guess it's possible that he was intoxicated when he first told the lie but then felt he couldn't back down from the lie or he'd face embarrasment and hoped it couldn't be proven that he was lying.

There's something incredibly off-putting about Ryan Lochte.

For the people that don't know. This is not an actual interview. They took clips from the Today Show and put Stephen in it.

I hate that they always cut the part of the race out where they throw the swimmers a herring.

I'm not all up to speed with this character, Ryan Lochte or anything. But from what I gather:
-US Citizen goes to foreign land
-US Citizen stirs up some shit on foreign land
-US Citizen lies about it
-US Citizen gets caught
-US Citizen continues to lie about it
-World finds out, he says "oops - I was intoxicated"

Have I missed anything? If not, chances are he's getting his own Reality TV show beside a Kardashian. Good Old 'Merica

It was a stupid attitude really, the swimmer was very immature. But I am Brazilian and I can say, we know that this attitude does not represent the American people. We had this bizarre episode with Ryan Lochte, but we had other athletes with an excellent behavior of respect and they left a good reminder of the USA. Now, I think this episode has had too much attention, we have more important things in the world to discuss.

Oh boy, I bet Tokyo is going: "I DARE you to try that crap over here little man!" I doubt it'd stop at them just tanning his hide.
