If you live in the UK, chances are you know someone who’s been the victim of fraud. On Wednesday the government announced their new plan to tackle the UK’s so-called ‘fraud epidemic’. So what is the plan and will it actually work?

Thank you for not showing Rishi’s super awkward cringeworthy speech. And yes Fraud is a Rissue.

Congrats on getting the invite in Downing 10. It shows how the channel has grown and it’s reach!

That being said, now that you have seen the man himself: did you ask him whether “The Big Rissue” was the right name, in the end?

As a viewer from the EU mainland, it would have been interesting for you to give a few examples on how this fraud actually looks like, as without context it is hard to get a good picture.

Are we mainly talking regular email scams, or also things like ransomware attacks, sending fake invoices, etc.

Also, how do the UK stats compare to other countries?

Nope, UK has laws for everything, but no one to enforce them and therefore makes the laws redundant. The fall in crime is probably due to people not reporting them, as everyone knows nothing will get done.

So basically Sunak's government will do nothing about the problem, and instead spend a load of public money "informing" the public that it's their own fault for allowing themselves to get scammed and how they should have avoided it. Meanwhile, commercial businesses who cannot prosecute anyone are asked to deal with the matter while police are "too busy" to get involved. Must be because of the record numbers of police Sunak says he hired.

Fraud going unpunished/uninvestigated? Probably because the lawmakers want to ensure They aren't in trouble when They get caught doing fraud.

Oh, please! Sunak can’t even answer a simple question, never mind solve a crisis. A real crisis, not one he made up.

funny how Sunak invited a bunch of digital journalists round for a powerpoint right before local elections ;)

He excludes fraud from the crime figures every time he tries to demonstrate that his government have brought crime down.

If he can't even accept that fraud is a crime (which let's face it, makes him a criminal) then how on earth is he meant to tackle the issue?

Thank you for disclosure at the start, something that the tabloids and even some broadsheets don't do.

I hope you keep this up as you continue to grow. Conflict of interest should be put at the forefront of all news reporting

Like you said getting people educated about fraud would be a step in the right direction. Get some TV and radio ads around prime time TV. Gets kids aware about it in high school when they are about to leave. Stuff like that.

I don't think the current Conservative Party care. It doesn't affect them. And when it does, they have the resources and connections to punish them.

Well done you guys! Been watching your videos since channels launch - seeing your good self sitting there in Downing Street is a measure of how far you've come without resorting to partisan pandering. Keep up the good work - if the world needs anything right now, it's reliable sources of information. Thank you! :)

I’m studying in the uk and when I got a uk phone number, I started receiving texts about packages I wasn’t expecting and alerts about a bank account I didn’t have. The messages are very easy to ignore if you are aware that they are scams, but I can only imagine how many people who aren’t as aware have fallen for them. I’ve lived in two other countries, and I never received scam text messages when I had local phone numbers.

"Fully transparent" in other words, you just wanted to brag.

Which you fully deserve to do. Well done.

How can politicians who commit such crimes themselves be expected to legislate to solve the problem

Saw a reddit post recently where a British woman had all her bank accounts emptied after a night out and no idea what happened, but she can't get the police or bank to care! Was on r/rbi
