Les Baxter - Shooting Star Exotica 1958

From the Space Escapade album released in 1958. This cover is awesome! I find it fascinating. Not only does it scream 1950's but it screams the future. Original copies of this album in good condition can fetch over $100. I found an import/reissue on Amazon and it was too good of a deal to pass up. You really have to check each day to see if it is available and when it is you have to wait for the best price.

I grew up the youngest of 5. I grew up on classic rock (The Doors, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Bad Company, Styx, etc). As a teen in the 80's I listened to heavy metal. So I was pretty narrow in my music selection. About 5 years ago I discovered some wonderful music from the 50's called "Exotica" or "Space Age Bachelor Pad" music (easy listening from the 50's). There is some wonderful work from the era. Les Baxter was the first I discovered with "Moon Moods".
