AURORAS VILLAIN SONG - Once Upon A Dream - rewritten | Sleeping Beauty cover

This weeks Princess turned Villain is Aurora!! I feel like she doesn’t get much attention so it’s her turn in the spotlight.

Story
(This story follows the events of Maleficent in the recent remakes of Sleeping beauty.)

We all know how this story begins. Aurora received a curse that would send her into a deep sleep on her 16th birthday. She was sent away from home in an effort to prevent the curse from coming true and was raised by three fairies in the woods. Lonely and bored, Aurora would regularly sneak away and spend time with another fairy she found in the woods, Maleficent. They spent many afternoons chatting as Maleficent provided a safe haven for Aurora to escape to. The two quickly grew a deep bond and became like family.

Eventually, Auroras curse was set in motion on her 16th birthday. After being led to the castle, she pricked her finger and fell into a deep sleep. Maleficent in an effort to break the curse, kissed Aurora on the forehead and she awoke as the kiss was one of true maternal love.

This is where our story takes a turn.

Just as Maleficent and Aurora were leaving the castle to return home, an arrow struck Maleficent in the chest, shot by Aurora’s Father, the king. Fear of those more powerful can make you do awful things. Maleficent died in Auroras arms. Struck by grief Aurora ran to the Moors to hide away from the world, Swearing she would avenge her fallen friend.

Eventually, if left to fester, grief can blind even the purest of souls.

Aurora swore she would have her revenge and began plotting. Blaming the king and his people for the unwarranted hatred they had for Maleficent that eventually led to her death. She spent the next few months learning how to cast spells and curses as Maleficent did, the creatures in the Moors assisting her with her goals. She mastered curses quite quickly, Focusing especially on one’s with spinning wheels.

After some time had passed Aurora was ready and the town had restocked their spinning wheels, they would soon come to regret that. We meet Aurora as walks through the town, singing her cursed lullaby. Compelling the townspeople to prick their finger and fall into a deep sleep, one they won’t wake from.

Cinderella would be great!! I can imagine her singing “A dream is a wish your heart makes” bitter and upset at the cruelty she faced throughout childhood, and the despair that her dreams may never come true

I imagine her like a silent villain, you don't know she's bad because you can't speak a lot with her, and then just talks to you when singing to trick you or in an important moment, something like that, thinking how she's the princess with less dialogue on her movie.

The story made this villain version of Aurora more of a heartbroken and betrayed-feeling character where she's simply seeking a just revenge — instead of her being plain evil.

Aurora, the most beautiful of all evil! I love how quiet it was at the start, like how the townsfolk could hear Aurora in the distance as she started walking into town to sing her cursed song. And then how it bellowed out into the new lyrics was wondrously dark and hypnotic. I also felt a sense of mourning from Aurora, not just for Maleficent, but for herself as well. he'd been forced to bury herself in order to become someone that could avenge Maleficent, and now she has the last laugh - the only laugh - in a town that sleeps evermore. Bravo, bravo. As a lover of Sleeping Beauty, this was marvelous. ^_^

Also, i get the feeling she's trying to find a way to bring Maleficent back to life, whilst also letting everyone know she's going to exact revenge. And i love it.

In the original from 17th century, Sleeping Beauty is actually more of a horror than a fairytale, starting from the fact that cursed princess was raped in her sleep and gave birth to twins which later on were almost killed by her mother-in-law.

Honestly the whole idea that such a sweet innocent princess could truly become this is a compelling story that I wished existed. Also I LOVE how you were able to show her deep rage with the use of ur voice. AMAZING<3

I imagine Aurora walking through the forest and the abandoned cottage house, now withered and decaying, as she sings the first verse. Then, the further she goes, the lush forest gradually thins until she arrives at Maleficent’s old castle, where she reminisces about the earlier days and how her ‘perfect’ story ending was not what she thought it to be (Imagine the original Grimm ending where she was raped and her twins were almost killed).The song ends with her finding and picking up Maleficent’s staff as her eyes swirl with the lime green color of magic, vowing to enact revenge upon those who have done her wrong.

Why do I feel like the start of the song would start when shes walking into the town and it would hypnotize one child every night that was awake during her song and the child would follow her into a place with the needle and when the child pricks their finger. They fall in a super long deep sleep, and its used as a legends and a way to make your kids sleep as soon as possible of else Aurora will find you...

Can you imagine this as a movie? That she walks around the town singing and through her path they fall asleep and the LAST THING the king sees is Aurora aproaching him singing the last "I know you" that would be so terrifying yet so incredible, i love it

This was amazing! “I know you” was being said in the darkest way possible, it made me think she was talking to me tbh, which scared me a bit haha! But to me it sounds like someone had betrayed her in some way? I’m not sure, I’m not good with lore unless I make up my own characters. Great video though and AWESOME ❤❤❤❤
