I tried solo bikepacking // Mackeys Hut - Kosciuszko National Park // Retro MTB

With the desire to film a solo bikepacking trip and time up my sleeve during a snowy mountains trip I decided to go on my first ever solo bikepacking trip. In this video I ride my 1995 Retro Raleigh from Denision Campground to Mackeys Hut, both located in the Kosciuszko National Park. This route took me along the Greymare Trail which had a lot more tall grass than I was expecting. Wearing shorts and small ankle socks I bash my way through the grass covered trail 1km at a time as I reacces my decision many times over. The thought of being bitten by a snake on the hot summers day was very real.

Don't be put off by solo trips. Like you just experienced, you can be yourself. Whether it be riding at your own pace, or stopping when ever you want to set up the perfect shot. Riding with mates is tops, but solo is where its at for the ultimate choose your own adventure!

main thing with solo’s is a good first aid kit especially snake kit and know how to apply it. pro’s and cons on solo’s, i like both. good vids.

Great work, old son! Have to give you some kudos for the trip and especially for carrying at least 1 BIG camera (didn't see the other); I'd never carry something that precious and heavy with me, if I were to head into such country. That's one of the reasons that, although I still use my Canon 7D and LOVE it, I bought a Canon M50 mirrorless camera (courtesy of the dosh that our dear government handed out last was it 2020?). It takes great photos and fantastic video - and it's small enough and light enough that a Gorilla tripod will hold it steady. Anyway, thanks again for all the time you would have spent editing all the clips into this great vid. Kudos again!

Great stuff! Very entertaining. Maybe you could get yourself some gaiters next time for a bit of extra protection for those bare ankles. Good thing to have in the kit, and fairly lightweight for keeping in the frame bag.
