In this new series, we take a look at the latest hardtail news. Today we're focusing on the new Spot Rocker. This is not a review. We take a look at the press release, marketing materials, and specs and share my initial impressions. What do you think, would you ride one of these?

A few more things...

1) this is also available as a geared bike (see their website for the geared version). I decided to focus on the singlespeed model for this video because the belt drive is so unique.

2) I don't think this would never replace my main aggressive hardtail, but I think it'd be a cool bike to add to the fleet for long and fast rides.

3) it's nice that their marketing materials don't try to spin this as an aggressive do it all hardtail. They're pretty clear that this thing is an xc/marathon/race bike. That said, the 67* hta is getting slacker for an xc bike.

4) I can't see it in the specs, but the picture show threaded bb cups. I was not expecting that's since the spot ryve uses a pressfit bb. If this really does have a threaded bb, huge props to spot.

Curious as to how it would ride compared to the 2019 steel frame... I love how they integrated the drop outs 👍

I love these new style of reviews you're doing I'm very interested in getting the frame of that Kona extra slack dude lol but this bike is very interesting and it's very cool that you can put an angle set in 65 degrees of head angle would be awesome on that bike I'd love to try it I'm 6-1 so 435 chain stay isn't so bad for me I like it a little shorter myself definitely could make that work though

This bike looks so fun! They do $25 demos out of their HQ in Golden, CO. I'd highly recommend if you're in the area (and the fires die down).

Hey Mr. Party, love seeing cool bikes here that I would have never hear about otherwise.

I recently took a gamble on the “bikesdirect special” motobecane fantom boost ti. Bike media seems to write them off as junk and pretend they don’t exist, but imo it’s a lot of bike for $2k and has a lot of things you like - plus tires, titanium, low bb, 3 bottle mounts, etc.. And can be built crazy light even with the included Pike fork.

Would love to hear your thoughts on it, personally I’m really enjoying mine.

Spot is doing some really interesting things! Thanks for reviewing them, otherwise Id probably not know about Spot. I also really enjoyed your review on the Spot Ryve a while back on Dusty Betty.

Beautiful bike but I'm pretty bummed that they don't offer the steel frame anymore.

I love this...spot rockers were always a mystery until you ride and dial. They always are up on there game when it comes to belt drives and external cable routing...but that chainstay length is unusual on a rocker it must be for some compliance I have no clue.
I also wish they had a steel option plus more color option like there 2012 rocker blue. Either or still I need to get a ride on this...thx for yr review

The geared version of this bike looks perfect for a "everything" bike for a lot of people (if you want to drop the cash). The kind of bike you can ride with your buddies on the local trails or go do a race on weekends. I know you and some commentors aren't excited by the chainstay length, it makes climbing up punchy stuff easier as front won't lift on you. If you were in some place with see-saw climbs, janky tech or punchy but short hills, this geo would be perfect. A good percentage of the rides in the USA would be well served by this bike.

I'm intrigued by the belt drive, although I'm not sure if I want one of these over my Chameleon. The length numbers on the geo charts are so drastically different.

I love Spot bikes. Their steel Rocker is the best hardtail I’ve ever ridden. I hope you can ride and review their new carbon Rocker.

Esker Hayduke and All City Electric Queen could be a couple bikepack frames for you to review. Both are bit more traditional in terms of geo. I'm from Minnesota and both are based here. (Esker started under the name Advocate here in Minnesota or so I'm told, and now moved out west). Available as frame only and hopefully in stock. I'll try to drop them a message on your behalf.
