The Carina Nebula #shorts

This nebula is located about 7,500 light years from us. It is one of the largest nebulae in our skies (and is so large I cannot capture the whole thing in one image!) but can only been seen by those in the Southern Hemisphere due to its proximity to the south celestial pole. This image was taken over just 5hrs and 23mins with a 98% moon, but fortunately given the nebulae’s location, I was able to shoot with the moon to my back and avoid the worst of the light’s effects.

A small section of the nebula was one of the first objects observed by the JWST (that section of the nebula is not in this image as, again, it’s huge!).
