The Carina Nebula is located approximately 6,500 to 10,000 light-years from Earth. It is the largest emission nebula in the sky. It is 100 - 150 times more massive than the sun and its luminous power is four million times higher. It is a large, complex field of bright and dark nebulae. in a galaxy as large as ours there are only a few dozen or so. The Carina Nebula is one of the largest star-forming regions in the 300 light-years-wide Milky Way, and you can easily see it with the naked eye in a dark region, or rather, away from light pollution. In the interior of the nebula is the Eta Carinae star system. It is a star system thought to consist of at least two stars, located 7,500 light-years away. Part of the Carina nebula is the Keyhole Nebula. John Herschel gave it this name in the 19th century. The nebula is very small, about 7 light-years in diameter. Darkness is made up of cold molecules and dust.
