Is it just me, or do the twins look more beautiful in this game? They were pretty in the original NIER (Nier Gestalt), but the visuals are so stunning here!

When Popola says "No one stops" before you fight her and then the Song of the Ancients starts playing, it really makes you feel heartbroken. Seeing this scene 4 times to get ending D took a toll on me. Now hearing the Song of the Ancients makes me cry because I think of that scene. 😭

This is just my interpretation, but in my my opinion... THIS is the true final boss battle of the game. I know that Gestalt Nier (the Shadowlord) was the one who needed to survive in order to keep the dream of humanity's survival alive, but Nier only cared about saving his Yonah. Hell, he wouldn't even have become the Shadowlord if he had not been promised that Yonah would be saved. But he never cared about humanity. It is Devola's and Popola's fight that acts as humanity's final stand. And it is Devola's death (which results in Popola finally snapping, no longer caring about humanity anymore) that signals the end of the world.

4:03 is where manking was eradicated.

I remember coming near the fountain and realizing the sudden sound of lovely singing was Devola. I remember walking by the tavern numerous times and briefly catching her voice as she sang. I remember both of them doing a duet at the tavern, and how beautiful it was. I remember . . . and it all came to this. My heart hurts. 😭

I love the wait bit from Nier like even in his one-track mind does he begin to realize how bad things are now.

The saddest part about Emil's sacrifice was that fact that he didn't just ride off valiantly into the sunset. He sat there trapped, lonely, not wanting to die.

2:51 Devola looks so pretty. The animation and models are amazing, they really did a good job with this remake.

especially on subsequent playthrough the player starts to feel like the villain in this story, but popola’a outburst especially just hits that home. “you cut down my sister like a goddamn animal and now you want to stop!?” because yeah. we mashed those buttons that’s exactly what we did.

In first fight, Popola starts dancing when the lyrics begin in the background music. So actually she is singing to cast the magic. And also when you fight Popola alone, the background music is Devola's version.

Fun fact, the part when Kaine kicks the shit out of Nier is actually a love scene between both of them.

I'm reminded of a quote from Doctor Who. "When you fire that first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die. You don't know who's children are going to scream and burn. How many hearts will be broken! How many lives shattered! How much blood will spill until everybody does what they're always going to have to do from the very beginning — sit down and talk!" If every involved, Nier, Kaine, the twins, the Shadowlord, had just taken the time to sit down and talk so much pain could have been avoided.

Interesting how they keep almost all the lines but change "I" to "you" when she says "You think 'you' have the luxury to stop?", "You cut down my sister...now you want (prev: me) to stop!?"

Watching Devola die already hit me right in heart, having her song play as Popola screamed about how no one stops ripped it out entirely.
