If I remember correctly, the kiss was not in the script. It was a bit of an improv that Eddie chose to do on the spot and Mary went along with it. It worked well enough that they used it in the final cut.

I love Adama so much. Incredibly inspiring character, with his tough demeanor, brilliant mind, respect towards allies and enemies, and then not afraid being teareyed like in this scene... This is a MAN.

I don't know what part of this scene I like best:

- the fangirl squee as Roslin hands her hero the box containing his new rank
- that goofy Adama grin
- the clear expression of grief on Adama's face as he realizes his President's critical condition

The superb acting is what really nailed this heartbreaking scene. Mary McDonnell's and Edward James Olmos' characters and emotions were entirely believable (as they were pretty much throughout the entire series).

As someone with stage 4 cancer I can appreciate this scene. There are plenty of doctors around but precious little affection from anyone. I cannot describe the hurt of that absence.

So many emotions in this scene. The kiss, Adama’s huge smile like he’s the luckiest man in the world for getting to kiss Laura Roslin. Then reality sinks in, anticipatory grief, he can’t even enjoy becoming admiral because he’s about to lose the love of his life.

This scene is always tough for me to watch. Get a little choked up too, but the scene that I absolutely love is when Cain and The Old Man go head to head. Another scene that I like is the Blackbird scene and Laura catches herself as she gets choked up about them naming the Black Bird after her.
